I didn't know that Delaware and Missouri State were FBS now. Are they just accepting anybody these days?
Yes,  for a while CUSA was taking anybody.

All started from the fallout when Tex and Ok left the Big 12 for the SEC.  Then the Big 12 took 3 schools from the AAC.  Then the AAC took 6 schools from CUSA.  Then the SBC took 3 schools from CUSA.

At that point,  CUSA was down to 5 teams.  They grabbed FBS indies Liberty and NMSU and grabbed a couple FCS schools from Texas.  A couple years later,  they grabbed Delaware and Missouri St. From FCS.  This got CUSA up to 11 sxhools.  Then LA Tech just announced they will be leaving CUSA for the SBC in 2027.  So now CUSA will have 10 teams in 2027 unless CUSA adds somebody else.
We are all equal but some are more equal than others.

That was a bad loss for Cal. Honestly, a pretty gross game on all fronts, but Cal has modest goals for this season and tech does not.

And I was chuckling at the north Texas game. Charlotte is terribly bad, and I think the mean green wants a little attention for the work it’s doing.

Purdue and Rutgers both moving the ball at will.

But the Purdue defense stopped a 4th down conversion attempt inside their own 10 yard line, and forced a [missed] FG attempt on another drive, while turning their two successful drives that got to 1st-and-goal situations into 10 points...

So 20 minutes in, and the Boilers are up 10-0.

Maybe they can turn this into their first conference win while start my drive to LAX in another hour or so...

That isn’t a very good Cal defense. It’s also a little unfortunate. That tech has never quite been able to figure out a way to maximize their quarterback.

When he gets going on the ground, it’s a real problem. But it hasn’t happened enough.

More than any other FBS school, Cal losses are the tree falling in a forest that almost nobody hears. Seriously, Justin Wilcox and Cal are made for each other. There's no other coach that would demand so little from a university that doesn't rally crowds to the game or offer much of any backing or resources. And no other university would continue a commitment to Wilcox's sustained mediocrity.

Going on nine seasons in Berkely, Wilcox is 47-53. Cal's modest goals are to go bowling every other season. Wilcox doesn't have to win much to keep his gig and winning season at a rate of every other year allows the university and the athletic department enough justification to avoid the difficult work of finding another coach (and the money for it) - a coach who would demand upgrades to the infrastructure and priority treatment from the university.
