Interesting slate of week one games: On Thursday, Rutgers opens with a win, Ohio State should be too much for Minnesota. On Friday, I don’t know what to expect from Northwestern and MSU, so it will be educational, and might be a good game. On Saturday, Michigan had better win, or Harbaugh will get the “Scott Frost Treatment”. Penn State visits Wisconsin in one of the weekend’s best games, PSU wins this historically, but Wisconsin is expecting a good season, with Penn State coming off a disappointing year. I think Nebraska beats the Fordham Rams, or else. West Virginia visits Maryland, in a battle of two teams with ACC roots. We see if last year was a fluke, or can Indiana really visit a quality Iowa team, and come away with a win? Oregon State visits Purdue. Illinois hosts UTSA, can Bert do it again?
In other games, Georgia faces Clemson in a “neutral site” contest in Charlotte, NC, that Georgia had better win, or David Pollack needs to shut his mouth, forever. Alabama should beat Miami. In an interesting contest, UCLA hosts LSU. UCLA has the benefit of a game, appears improved, and has good offensive and defensive lines. LSU is distracted by hurricane Ida, so they might be in trouble, if UCLA can get some fans in the seats.
