Jesus fucking christ in heaven, can we please enjoy any football game on the planet earth without obsessing about Patrick Mahomes and showing Taylor Swift?

After announcing her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift made first public appearance at the Nebraska season opener at Arrowhead Stadium.

I'm going to refer to one of my ten cardinal rules of college football fandom: don't overreact to week 1.

The Badgers D looked good. The offense needs work, but looked better than last year's version. Check the TOP: over 39 minutes. That itself is a dramatic upgrade. Outgained the opponent 3-1. Backup quarterback stepped in and put up better numbers than the starter had been putting up. The INT on 4th and 3 from Miami's 10 stunk, but if you decide to go for it there, rather than taking the points, it's not a catastrophic time to throw a pick.

Did I like it? No. But I'm not going to bury them yet. Every Big Ten team struggled more than it "should" have last night. First games can be like that. No need to panic. Concerned about losing Edwards, though. Non-contact injuries worry me. O'Neil did a serviceable job stepping in, and I don't feel like the new offense is asking too much of the quarterbacks.

SFIrish made me jump back and forth between the Badgers and the Gophers game. Similar story over there. Gophers were clearly the better team, but looked a little out of sorts. Happens.

Nebraska struggled (against an allegedly better team), Rutgers struggled. Meh. Week 1. Let's see how week 2 goes.

Fickell did better against Miami when he was coaching the Bearcats.

We are well aware of your position on him.

Nobody is born on third base in Madison. Nobody gets handed keys to a Ferrari. There is no such thing as an unlimited budget for players and coaches.

Luke Fickell a good man. Can't take that away - even if he's not the right coach for Wisconsin.

Winning at Cincy while in the AAC is a little different than trying to win in the B1G.

You fixed nothing.
