No such thing as tampering, it's all free agency now.  He was just dumb enough to do it the wrong way.

Rules have been pretty plain since 2021.  And the workarounds were obvious.

the NCAA disagreed in this case
you are correct about him being DUMB - I'd guess the NCAA agreed on that

NCAA is a million years behind reality, all of the court cases they keep losing have told us that.

He should probably challenge in court, I bet he'd win.

"Tampering" doesn't exist in a state of unlimited free agency, which is what college sports have become.

Regardless, all he had to do was exhibit a modicum of intelligence and this wouldn't even be a topic of discussion.

The NCAA might as well be a 75 year-old congressional representative legislating AI.  Out of their depth.
