If he was an ACC rookie of the year at Clemson, why is he in a Cal jersey in the first photo?  Seems like if he was a ROTY, then Clemson and Ole Miss would be the only schools he's been at.

I believe he portaled from Berkeley to Clemson earlier this cycle, now he's ditching Clemson and portaling to Ole Miss.

Hell, last spring after Ryan Walters was canned, Purdue's QB portal'd to North Carolina, and then (over the summer I think) portal'd his way right back to Purdue.

We can't be sure the players who say they're coming are coming, or even be sure the players who left are gone

No point paying attention to any of it until September... If at all.

That was my source of confusion as well.

I forgot that Cal-Berkeley is an Atlantic Coast Conference school.

Right on up there with the Big Ten having 18 members.

Indeed.  Apparently LSU has a running back who entered the portal and then was talked into "returning," and removing himself form the portal.

I expect I'll watch most of the games next year, but I don't expect to know many players, nor do I care much.  I think I read that we're at 41 portalees right now.

I just made up "portalees."

Exactly. I could make fun of the Southeastern Conference absorbing a bunch of schools from the Southwest Conference.

But I can't exactly do that with a straight face when my own team is part of the Big Ten and we've got 18 freakin' members.

Big Ten hasn't existed since 1992.

Emmett Johnson running back for the University of Nebraska, 2025 season where he rushed for over 1,400 yards, earned Big Ten Running Back of the Year, and became a first-team All-American

was in the portal a year ago and decided to come back to UNL

A former Nebraska quarterback has returned home. Daniel Kaelin has transferred back to the Huskers after one season with the Virginia Cavaliers.

The sophomore finished the 2025 season with 339 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception. Kaelin joined Nebraska's class of 2024 as a three-star recruit and the No. 6 prospect in Nebraska.

He initially committed to the Missouri Tigers before switching his commitment to the Cornhuskers.

Yeah, but you could make an argument that the SEC hasn't existed since 1991, when they picked up a school from the SWC.

(I wouldn't make that argument BTW... As far as I'm concerned, Arkansas can be considered a Southeastern state. Missouri is more of a stretch though.)

IMHO it would be hard to argue that the Big Ten taking on PSU, and later Nebraska, weren't good logical additions. I wasn't following CFB back when PSU was added but I know that I said on here that I felt like Nebraska largely "fit" and "made sense".

Just like the SEC taking on A&M, UT, and OU.

But when the Big Ten started adding schools like MD and RU, it started getting silly. And then becoming a nation-spanning superconference with nearly twice as many schools as in the conference's name? Just nuts. And then the Atlantic Coast Conference adding two schools within spitting distance of the Pacific Ocean?

Go home CFB; you're drunk.
