It increasingly seems like if you don't have a billionaire alumnus (or several) who ALSO happens to care deeply about your football team...

...you might as well not field a teams at all.

You don't "build a program." You buy a roster.

Dollars were always the driving force. Now they are just transparent about it.

The NIL arms race and House pay-for-play settlement are forcing schools and conferences to get creative.  They can't just slash coaching salaries to cover the gap, that market has already been set.  They can, and likely will, begin slashing non-revenue sports.

The US Olympic teams are about to become significantly less competitive.

The US Olympic teams can get paid now, correct?

I don't know.  One of the gripes for a while has been that the NCAA format is great for getting the kids into a structure, and a college degree, but its not the best for development of Olympic athletes

Louisville signed a basketball player who played in the NBA G League for 2 years.  Signing European pros is now allowed.  Listened to a podcast yesterday that said what is stopping a team from signing Justin Fields next year?

When the universities cut them, who's gonna pay for them?
