Scholarships, room and board, training, tutors, dieticians, nutritionists, medical care, etc.
I guess that's not getting paid.
Oh well.
give me a fucking break. gtfo here with that nonsensical shit please.
the scholarships cost the schools literally nothing. zip. nada. zilch. the other stuff- sure- but guess what kids risking life and limb to generate
BILLIONS of dollars for these programs kind of need a place to live and sleep and food to eat. who'dda thunk it! And the quality of all that other shit you listed just helps teams attract better players and in turn win more games- so they are investments from the schools to build winning programs/cultures- not handouts just because.
these conferences are raking in
tens of billions of dollars from their tv contracts- which the schools all get
9-figure checks from every single year. The schools also get tens of millions in bonus money for playoff appearance, get tens of millions of dollars from ticket sales & concessions for home games, tens of millions of dollars in licensing & royalty fees from merchandising deals, apparel sales, etc..
without the players the sport is nothing and the conferences and schools make nothing. no one is fucking watching on tv or going to the games or buying merchandise if the teams are full of Mr. 5'7" generic white guy future dentists or insurance salesmen- which in turn would make the money dry up and the thing would just die on the vine.
the greedy pigs running the NCAA and these conferences and athletic programs didn't get ahead of the curve and strike some kind of equitable fair deal with players and ensure they were taken care of- and now we are where we are in this hell scape shithole. yeah, so I blame them.
