Anything West of the Mississippi is Southwest to me. LSU barely makes it in that sense.

Yeah, but you could make an argument that the SEC hasn't existed since 1991, when they picked up a school from the SWC.
Sure, you could definitely make that argument and I wouldn't disagree.  The "old guard" SEC schools remain the same, regardless of the numerous additions since then.

And then the Atlantic Coast Conference adding two schools within spitting distance of the Pacific Ocean?
From the stadium promenade at one of those schools (Cal), you literally look out at the Pacific Ocean.

These conferences are a farce.

It would be nice to go back to 1991.

we just need to appreciate that we lived in the 70s & 80s when things were much different

Streets are much dirtier in ATX now than they were in the 70s/80s.

Careful of veering into grumpy old man's lane...there's a thread for that.

There's a lot of really great stuff nowadays that we didn't have back then. And most of us around here probably have a lot more disposable income than we had back then, too. I don't want to go back. I do wish that college sports conferences had some rational relationship to geography, and some appreciation for the history that brought us here.

Hell, last spring after Ryan Walters was canned, Purdue's QB portal'd to North Carolina, and then (over the summer I think) portal'd his way right back to Purdue.

We can't be sure the players who say they're coming are coming, or even be sure the players who left are gone!
This made me think it sounds like a Dr. Seuss book.  And then I got sad and realized college football is very much like a Dr. Seuss book.  Sigh.

No point paying attention to any of it until September... If at all.
And yet, all over the interwebs, they still have "way too early Top 25" for 2026.  Mindlessness.
Grumpy.

Try to stop them from portaling whenever they want, and they'll sue. And they'll win.
