Wait, wasn’t the coliseum built for some kind of Olympic venue or something similar way back when?  Even if LA didn’t host the Olympics way back when maybe they just built it so it could be used as part of an attraction?  Also it’s perfectly reasonable to assume that if you’re LA you’d think you’d be filling the stadium on a regular basis. If not sporting events maybe concerts and other events.  What other stadiums existed in that time?
It was built 10 years before they hosted the games, but they built it so they could host them eventually.

How about "why did they build it if it wasn't going to fill to the brim with college football fans for the past 100 years?"

Is that humble enough?
I mean, maybe they built it just because they wanted it? The Coliseum is the "Memorial" Coliseum, built like many other postwar stadiums. The Rose Bowl might have just been that the Tournament of Roses folks wanted something grand. I don't really know.

California in the early 1920s--remember that historically this was part of a postwar boom and the "roaring 20s", and California was rapidly growing. There was a lot going on.

I guarantee they weren't building it wondering what OAM would think of their decision in 2025.

Probably money.

Filled 6-8 times per year >>>>>>> filled once per year (roughly 6-8x as much money :) )

Filled 6-8 times per year >>>>>>> 50% full 6-8 times per year (roughly 2x as much money :) )

It's cool this post needed to exist I guess.

Filled or 50% once per year is better than zero.

I guess this post needed to exist as well.

No. OAM has spoken.

Let's tear down the Coliseum and the Rose Bowl.

And let's outlaw eggs.

Things he can't see the value in, shouldn't exist.

I mean, in an ideal world UCLA would have stopped playing there a long time ago. But it is financially far too late to unring the bell.

I get shit posts like this, despite asking for a conversation and acknowledging that I don't understand something.
