Told my wife the jw ble label was better than the mccallan 12.  She said no it's not even though she didn't taste either.  Lol. Doesn't want me buying a bottle when I get home

Hennessy is Cognac which is a type of brandy specific to one region in France.  It's definitely an acquired taste, much more so than bourbon or Scotch IMO.  The Hennessey XO would be my choice of those I can see on the shelf.

If you like the Macallan 12 then you might like some of the other "lighter" single malt Scotch whisky, and the Highland region specializes in those.  Only a couple of your pics came through but I'd look for brands like Glenmorangie, Dalmore, Oban, and Dalwhinnie.

Old forester is an American bourbon, a pretty standard one.  If you don't like that then I'm not sure you'll like other bourbons.  They tend to be much sweeter than Scotch.

Like bwar, I also really like rye whiskey.  If they have Bulleit Rye I'd give it a whirl.  It's not necessarily high end but it is tasty.

JW Blue is great, and it's also a blend rather than a single malt like the the Macallan.  Blends tend to be smoother by intent and design, so if that's what you like, then ask the bartender if there are any other blends he recommends.

They're not exactly expensive but you could look for brands like The Famous Grouse and Monkey Shoulder and even the good old steady Dewar's.  The older the aging, the better it will be typically.

I stay away from the Dewars and the Grouse - maybe if it was 18 years old
don't remember the last taste of Monkey Shoulder

Famous Grouse is actually quite good, it's blended from the Macallan and Highland Park single malts.  It's nobody's Cutty Sark.

I like Dewars as well as any Johnny Walker of equivalent age/vintage.  Really not much difference there.  Except for JW Blue, there's no Dewar's analog that I know of.  But they're all still only blends, so not really all that special anyway, IMO.

Single malts are a lot more interesting.

My calendar indicates that would be a go!

Have to have a clear head by 9 am the next day, and trust me, you don't want to be driving around this college town with any kind of significant BAC on board.  They ignored the study they paid for to try to get rid of all the one-way streets, because it would cut into municipal court revenue if the pre-cursor for DUI targeting was eliminated.
