So, in part to make up for the "French restaurant" experience, I took my wife to Fogo da Chao tonight.  They were running a lobster or crab cake special. It ended up a bit cheaper than the "French" place and was quite a bit more fun.  Service was very good, much of the steak was quite good, I had crab cake, she had lobster.  I had two glasses of house malbec at $8 each, she had two kaiparoskas which were $25.50 for two.  Dinner was $59 each.  I'm full.

The servers there work very hard.

Just got back from 5 days of camping directly on the beach at Padre Island National Seashore.  $25 gets you two weeks if you want to stay that long.  We set up about 5 miles down the coast, and had about 1/4 mile of beach all to ourselves.  It was great.

We also brought the Jeep down and took it about 20 miles down the coast, through some pretty heavy 4WD only areas.  That was fun.  Only saw a couple of fisherman drive by for about an hour and a half.

To all those folks thinking about moving here from New York, California, and other overcrowded cities—and to those planning a little getaway to the South…
Before you head to Georgia, you need to know what’s really going on down here. Especially in North Georgia, Middle Georgia, and every inch of rural land from the mountains to the marsh!
Housing is scarce, rent prices have skyrocketed, and the tourists are swarming in like it's the last peach festival on Earth.
So if you’re planning on relocating, or just want to spend a little time on our lakes, rivers, pine forests, or mountain trails this summer, you should probably know:
The bugs are on a warpath. Wolf spiders have claimed entire counties. Fire ants are organizing and bedbugs have taken over motels thanks to this sticky, steamy heat wave.
The woods? They’ll eat you alive. Ticks, chiggers, and mosquitoes big enough to carry off a toddler. Wear long sleeves or suffer the consequences.
Our lakes are now home to gators, snapping turtles the size of truck tires, and men over 60 who think Speedos are still in fashion.
Our rivers? Mostly drunk tubers peeing freely while bluegrass echoes from the trees. Banjo players are rumored to be hiding in the brush—judging you silently.
Panthers, bobcats, and coyotes have been spotted dragging off family pets—and possibly a few small children.
The bears? They’re everywhere. And in heat. And your significant other? Yeah, the wildlife thinks they’re real cute.
Snakes… bless your heart if you hate snakes. Georgia’s got water moccasins, copperheads, timber rattlers, and what we're calling the “Albino Devil Viper” (okay, maybe not officially, but folks swear they’ve seen it).
Poison ivy has officially won the war against every other plant.
Cougars have been seen in local bars, motels, and occasionally fighting over karaoke microphones.

A hotel in Vegas is charging $26 for a single bottle of water — that’s $624 for a 24-pack. The same 24-pack reportedly sells for just $49 at Walmart.

Vegas hotels are sketchy. They all have a resort fee that costs more than the room itself.

Have a offsite in Pittsburgh this week at one of our offices.  Some great vistas (and wings) at this place.

The largest religious structure in the world is Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Initially built to the Hindu god Vishnu in the early 12th century, it is made from 5 million tons of sandstone.

Man that's been on my bucket list for ages, never made it down to PINS.  Did you take the camper?  How did the truck/trailer handle the beach?  Did yall fish?  I have all kinds of surf fishing gear.  I love it.

Yeah we took the camper.  The first 5 miles of beach has a pretty hard-packed road that develops.  It's easy enough to pull the RV, even as heavy as mine is fully loaded (around 8,500 lbs this trip since we had to pack in all of our water, genny, gas, etc.).  We also took my wife's Jeep and went joyriding for half a day, that was fun.  Beyond 5 miles it turns into some pretty serious 4WD only kind of terrain.

I'm not much into fishing, although my 15yo son loves it.  But he's never surf-fished and we don't have any gear for it.  Just the normal CenTex river and lake fishing gear.
