It's fairly touristy, just off La Rambla and only a few blocks away from the ocean, but we had a fabulous meal at a restaurant named "La Fonda."  It's part of a local chain/group that owns some restaurants and hotels in Barcelona and Madrid, and the food and atmosphere were both great.  I've recommended it to many people over the years and the ones who've listened, always had a good experience.

I enjoy "scenery", my wife not so much, at all, especially if it entails a lot of driving.  She prefers cities, and the beach.

I would enjoy driving around Lake Superior, even driving from here out west (and I know how boring Kansas can be to traverse).  I mentioned driving the Blue Ridge Parkway sometime and she asked me how long it was, and then said NO.  I've taken her on the southern portions of it.

We have to drive to Cincinnati in August, her friend is having his 80th and a large deal associated thereto.  The good news is our step son is flying in here and will probably do most of the driving and he drives ... fast.  He droves us back from Orlando once in the GTI averaging about 100 mph.

He's a competent driver.  The GTI probably handled 100 better than the Tucson.

The friend set up some private river boat excursion during the fireworks, another thing that barely interests me, and it's $500 per person, he asked us to pay, I made a face when my wife mentioned it back when, and she didn't mention it again and I didn't ask.  This guy owns a condo overlooking downtown Cincy and often has a fireworks party at his place, but his wife passed on last year, she was a good cook.  Anyway, this is in lieu of I guess.  I went to his fireworks party once out of courtesy and then said I would pass in the future, got told it's a lot of fun.

This time I really didn't get much of a choice, anyway, the drive from here to Cincy is pretty boring for me having done it 11,000 times.

I always enjoyed the mountainous stretch of 24/75 coming in and out of Chattanooga. I would love to do the Blue Ridge Parkway, or at least spend some time in the general area while avoiding Gatlinburg/ PF.

The BRP section between Franklin, NC and Asheville is quite nice, and less heavily traveled (usually).  I took her on it a while back in early spring, we had stayed in Franklin and got up in foggy weather which made me disappointed, but we climbed out of it into blue sky and nearly no traffic and could look down on the fog shrouded valleys, was very nice I thought.  Get there before the kids get out of school.

I would like to see it extended down into Georgia, which had been proposed but isn't in the works at all now.

Same, but man, 75 really starts to suck after that. Going through Atlanta is not fun.
