This is a place to visit if you can make it to Normandy.  It is very sobering, and beautiful.  Colleville-Sur-Mer.  The twin flag poles fly Old Glory, you can't see it in this photo.

I thought the exact same thing when I walked into that room...

They pointed out that there's a good reason for that... That section (built well after much of the rest of the prison) was a specific prison design heavily used elsewhere:

I travel Boston a fair amount for work related matters.  Know the city fairly well, always enjoy my trips,  though one thing I had never done is visit TD Garden.  I went to the Bruins game last night.    bought a pretty good seat, yet totally on-brand for Boston,  the seats are designed for short people.  The dude next to me was about my 6-1 frame, and it's a sardine can.  Boston is a dense town, I get it, but there's never enough leg room anywhere.  hotel rooms are small, (ex. Parker House Hotel, the door to the bathroom hits the toilet), Fenway's got notoriously awful leg room.    uncanny.    a not very good Flyers team shut out the totally uninspired Bruins 2-0 (empty netter with less than a minute).

Fenway is awesome.  A true cathedral of the sport.  Don't tell Cubbies fans but I like it (slightly) better than Wrigley Field.

Fenway is indeed marvelous.

I feel Wrigley has about 50% bad seats that i would not consider.  Fenway about 25%.  I feel their renovation has markedly made it better than Wrigley, which i feel I need to revisit again after it's own renovation to judge again.

a buddy of mine wants to take a golf/baseball trip

golf in the morning/afternoon and take in a ballgame in a different ballpark in the afternoon/evening
