Yes, I was at Tinley multiple times to see them.

Alpine, Chicago Ampitheater, Chicago Stadium, United Center, Rosemont Horizon, Summerfest, Dane County Colosseum, Bradley Center. Pretty much all of them in and around Chicago/Wisconsin.

Ha!  Until the very end of last season, if I were trying to sell someone on UT, I probably wouldn't even mention the football team. ;)

If your son has any questions though, feel free to reach out.
Will do. And if/when we come to visit and tour the campus, I'll let you know.

I think he's largely started to reconsider a physics major b/c the "path to money" is a little more difficult until/unless you get an MS or PhD, so I think he's leaning engineering. Either way, UT is on his radar.

An MS in science often is a consolation degree for not passing your orals.

I tend to view science and engineering as different things.  Where I went, a Master's degree usually meant you couldn't pass your oral exams, which did happen.  It was a consolation prize, not really worth much.  There were a couple folks there going for a Master's for some reason, and I think they got an MA oddly enough, not an MS.

My buddy told me the PhDs in physics at Tech get good jobs, often as analysts on Wall Street, or "think tanks".  We had a ton of MEs and CEs where I worked, and a lot of chemists, but no physicists that I knew of.  We had one lady in our group with an MS but she was at the same level as folks with BS degrees.

Orals were "entertaining".

https://abc7.com/post/southwest-airlines-breaks-50-year-tradition-plans-start/15093512/

Quote
Southwest Airlines plans to drop its tradition of more than 50 years and start assigning seats and selling premium seating for customers who want more legroom.

The airline said Thursday that it has been studying seating options and is making the changes because passenger preferences have shifted. The moves could also generate revenue and boost financial performance.

...

Southwest has used an open-seating model since its founding, with passengers lining up to board, then choosing their own seat once they are on the airplane. But, the airline said, preferences have "evolved" - as more travelers take longer flights, they want an assigned seat.

The airline also said it will offer redeye flights for the first time.

Busy summer weekend with downtown hosting their annual Comic-Con. Many more attendees than last year but not as many charming one-off promotions – like last year Cozi TV and Laff channel hosting large interactive fan displays for shows in outdated syndication, like Roseanne and That 70s Show. This year they’ve cracked down on a lot of the free events, requiring the Convention Pass for what used to be free, like the Anime screenings in conference halls of the nearby hotels:

Walking back to my apartment tower, three sex workers were in handcuffs along with a druggie guy that was with them (their pimp?). After about 30 minutes of questioning and calling in backup PD cruisers, the druggie guy was issued a formal citation and released.

The police didn’t have time to write citations for the sex workers, releasing them as well, because they were dispatched to the scene of a large fire two blocks away:

Police blocked off the streets to make room for the Fire Department to stage their trucks for what turned out to be an extensive kitchen fire inside a Brazilian steakhouse. The whole block had to be evacuated, to include a nightclub which was hosting an immersive Batman experience to promote HBO’s upcoming Batman spinoff. Many of the evacuees, to include the show’s cast members, who poured into the streets were in full costume, especially in Joker costumes of the Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix variety. The hilarious thing, as they told me, is that when the lights beamed on inside the nightclub and announcements were made to evacuate into the streets, many believed it was part of the immersive experience until they caught sight of the fire engines.

Bump, will definitely dine there.  I've found a number of things to do and see around Sedona, signed up for three tours.  My wife has wanted to see Antelope Canyon for years now.

If you like planes, go to the airport restaurant for breakfast. It's pretty fun to watch the planes come in and take off. The food is very good there.

It's a common destination when I go flying with my BIL, from his home airport in Chandler.

I think our flights are around noonish both ways.  We might drive over to Winslow, Arizona, I hear it's a fine site to see.

Have some winery tours booked, never had AZ wine that I know of.  New Mexico makes a decent sparkling wine, Gruet.

OK, I'm talking about the Mesa Grill at Sedona airport.

You will find no shortage of restaurants in Sedona, but for a changeup Mesa is fun (if you like watching planes) and has really good food.
