Where is that?

One of the village streets a few blocks away from the shores of Gulf of Gaeta, 90 miles south of Rome on the Mediterranean Coast. Far enough away from Rome and Naples to lose the droves of tourists. The local, smaller city population is uniformly Italian in the everyday sense of dining almost exclusively on pastas and pizzas, sipping morning espresso over newspapers in the sidewalk café bars, attending Catholic mass on Sundays, and entertaining themselves on soccer.

Needless to say to anyone who has spent time across the pond – for as modern as Europe is, the Old World persists and is often developed around, such as modern apartment structures built adjacent to ancient stonewalls dating back a millennia ago. For example the Castello Angioino pictured below dates back to the 1100s but wasn’t fortified into a military stronghold until occupations by later monarchies. The town resting below the castle is the medieval section of the bay; the large bay itself rounds south toward Naples, following the shoreline mountains in the distance across the waters.

My wife and I discuss going somewhere like that for 2-3 months to see how it is, probably in Provence.

Months.  I'm restricted currently to 90 days in the Schengen zone, so that's an upper limit.  I'm not sure I'd do two months personally, it's just a topic of conversation.

I like living here just fine, and there are a lot of places I'd like to explore I've not yet been.

I could do 2-3 months in Provence.  Of course, if I did, there's the distinct possibility I might never come back.

Has anyone ever done a European river cruise? I'm very interested in one of those.

Apparently, we'd just need to get our marriage certified in France and I could apply for citizenship in five years.  It's not that easy apparently.

Weird.  Anyway, we're not going to do that.

We have, on the Rhine.  It was kind of a cut rate operation put together by a retiree group, not Viking or that ilk.  It was pretty good, I'd say, my wife was no so impressed.  We saw a lot of different places.  A lot of the tours were pretty bad really, we walked off several of them.

I think it's likely an excellent way to see a lot of places easily, but I'd pay more to do Viking even though you don't get to pillage cities with them.

The "house" takes care of itself other than a few plants that need watering.

At least here it's fairly warm, supposed to be 70°F on Thursday.

You should probably just move there. Or Florida.
