Yeah, it sorta just happened.  I blame my wife.

I actually am looking forward to it all, but the air travel will be a bit much for me.  I'm hoping we might get upgraded a bit going to France on Delta, maybe.  The Japan trip is on American where I have zero status.

I'm not sure a larger chair, more legroom, or free drinks would be enough to make me want to be stuck on a plane that long

More leg room for me is a priority.  My worst flight was Toronto to Dubai, in coach, last year.

I find it "ironic"???? that we sailed through the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea where all the mess is happening now.  We basically did that trip just in time, I'd do almost no part of it today.

Our Korea trip was on American, on which I don't have status either. I was able to upgrade to the bulkhead out and Premium Economy back for not much money. At 6'5" I need as much legroom as I can get.

What was worse was dragging our suitcases across DFW on a sprained ankle.

Same. I've been stuck multiple times in coach international at 6'5" and it's rough. It's a necessary evil if you want to see the world...

It's useful to visit places virtually, I think, the reality of them is often different of course.  And we're going to see my step daughter and some friends as well.

I've been to Marseille once before, it was, um, "interesting"? in places.  Kind of dirty really overall, strong winds blow  trash around.  Parts are nice of course.  We're also staying four nights in Aix which should be interesting, I hope.

I honestly can't remember the last time we flew coach. All we fly is American (Executive Platinum) and Allegiant (no status).

You can get into the front seats on Allegiant for $25. That's what we do, but it's not that often we use them as the times and days are limited (for now). They will grow.

Carte intégrale Fonfon 2023 - version 2 (chez-fonfon.com)

My wife wants to dine here, looks decent, to me.

We're nearly always on Delta for obvious reasons, it used to have a hub in Cincy as well back in the day.  The Cincy airport has shrunk dramatically.

I keep reading about various expansion plans for ATL, the idea of a second airport was floated long ago and dropped.  They are enlarging the D Concourse now and speculate on a sixth runway, somewhere, I don't know where.

RSW is getting a nice expansion right now and will have a second runway in about 5 years.

Nearly every flight we've been on for two years was completely full.  We had a red eye that wasn't.

Folks obviously are making up for lost time.
