It's kind of a fake question.
Why is that? Every state has a Capital, turns out to be Juneau up there. I would have guessed Anchorage as it's so much bigger than the others

You have to say it kinda fast to get it ... "D'You know, the capital of Alaska" ... which sounds like "Juneau, the capital of Alaska"...

We'll be in the Gaslamp Quarter right across from the baseball field.

If you've heard of Hodad's (burgers), it's not far from there. It was featured on DDD at one point, and it's an iconic surf-style burger joint. It's excellent.

DO NOT WALK THERE FROM THE GASLAMP. Uber it.

Last time my wife and I were there (2021), we parked only a few blocks from Hodad's and walked over, and she reminded me of my well-worn tradition of walking her through awful neighborhoods every time we're on vacation. Literally I'm sure if it wasn't me (6'5" 265# with a "dont F with us" look on my face) and the middle of the day, we might have had a problem.

Just make sure it's daytime and you'll be fine. The below picture, along my commute this morning is about 2 blocks from Hodads. Tents on both sides of street, occupied by mostly drug addicts.

For a brief walking primer of downtown San Diego, Gaslamp is specifically the bar corridor all up and down 5th street. Private security keeps a close eye on security risks and clears the walkways of squatters. 6th street is mostly fine too with Smoking Gun and the Coin-Op Arcade Bar excellent places. Venturing to 7th and further inland away from the Padres stadium and the streets can get pretty in your face after dark. Hodad's I think is on 10th.

Downtown San Diego's homeless population has topped over 2000 since the new year. Up from 1200 in 2019 and 600 in 2020 when the numbers dropped when the city opened the convention center to the homeless during Covid.

Oops: SeaTac Airport's Flawed New International Terminal - One Mile at a Time
Oops: SeaTac Airport's Flawed New International Terminal - One Mile at a Time

The terminal has 20 gates, and the intent was that all of those gates could be used by wide body jets at the same time. However, after construction was complete, it was determined that a design flaw means that only 16 wide body jets can use the terminal at a time, leading to a potential 20% shortfall in capacity.
Each gate is designed to accommodate certain wide body aircraft, with some gates being able to accommodate A330s and 787s, and other gates being able to accommodate 777s (which are larger). The gates need to be large enough not just to accommodate the planes, but also for the equipment needed to service aircraft, like fuel trucks, baggage trucks, and more.
Unfortunately after aircraft “fit checks” were performed, it was determined that four of the gates (A6, A8, S4, and S6) couldn’t accommodate the jets that they were supposed to. For example, gate A6 is supposed to accommodate a 777, but this is only possible by swinging the jet in an arc, and parking slantwise to the building, rather than pulling straight into the gate. However, that would mean that the adjacent gate A5 couldn’t be in use while this maneuver was being performed.

We like the weather here, but we certainly would not want to be inland.

BIG LAKE, Alaska —
It's been 10 years since this Boeing 727 cargo jet has flown. It has served as a sample plane for airline mechanics in training since.

But now, Jon Kotwicki, the owner of FLY8MA flight training school in Big Lake, Alaska, has big plans for this plane.

"It will serve as student housing for students who are coming to do flight training with us from afar, as well as an Airbnb," Kotwicki said.

Before the plane can serve as a temporary home, it has to make its new location, which will require towing it down public roads.

"This was the first airliner I know of this can be towed along Glenn (Highway)," Kotwicki said. "This will be going about 10 to 15 miles per hour."

Kotwicki says he hopes to have the plane ready to be an Airbnb within the next 12 to 16 months.

"We" towed our Cessna 152 about 3 miles to the airport after I set it down in the soybean field.  We actually loaded it on a flatbed tow truck and drove it at about 3 mph down the road with police escort.  I got the tow bill later, it was $80.

Yeah, three police cruisers, and two guys with polls walking on each side of us holding back branches and ensuring we clear any lines.  This was near Richmond, IN, I think they enjoyed the excitement,  it made the Dayton 11 PM news.

The lady sheriff I rode with was rather purty.

A place I'd like to visit, but won't.  We might make Igasu Falls someday.

Etosha National Park in Namibia is one of the largest national parks in the world and is home to 114 mammal species, 110 reptile species, and over 340 bird species. Etosha means "great white place" or "place of emptiness."

My "crazy" neighbor is just back from Ethiopia, we had him over for dinner last night.  His basic comment was that country is not ready for Western tourism (most here would say "Duh!").  Outside Addis Abbaba, he said it's akin to Turkey when he was a boy, very basic and undeveloped.  He said the population was well over 100 million which surprised me.

He's still processing his photos of various animals he took, that is his passion.

His next trip to  to Bolivia, the garden spot of the whole country probably.
