Actually, the wine we were served during the tour was mediocre, but as expected.  We did have some decent wine elsewhere, one bottle of Italian savignon blanc at the hotel was solid.

A lot of wine in Europe is just local stuff served in carafes of no particular distinction, I don't have a problem with that.

My wife is still dreaming about the hotel.

Meanwhile, I've contracted ANOTHER cold, not as bad as the first one, but a lot of coughing and mucous.  I went to cancel the concert we have Saturday and discovered it was a week from Saturday, so that's good.

My symptoms are not really COVIDesque, so far.  We got vaccinated in September, not that it means I couldn't contract it.  Anyway, I feel a bit better this AM.

I  tend to get colds when flying to Europe for obvious reasons.  I wash my hands a lot, but it sometimes happens to me anyway.  I might take a COVID test if I can find a test kit around here, they probably are expired if that matters.

We had an empty seat next to us flying back which was nice.  If Brit Air sent me a consumer eval form, they would get an earful.

Doctor, I have a cold.

Doctor: Drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of vitamin C, D and Zinc, take Tylenol and get a lot of rest.

Tylenol stresses one’s liver.

I avoid Tylenol, have for years, in part because my alcohol intake can be rather excessive.  I also try and minimize fructose intake.  That said I'm drinking hot tea sweetened with honey.

Anyway, I'm about to create a photo book from our trip.  One issue is we have a ton of photo books we rarely look back at.  I used to use Costco for this but they stopped it.

So, anyway, net net:

Mykonos - Didn't enjoy.
Syracuse - Enjoyed more than expected, like to return.
Salerno - Meh.  Italian city, not terrible, nothing really that notable.
Florence - Still wondering why English names for cities aren't the actual names for them.
Cannes - Enjoyed, my wife had downplayed it a lot  Fairly typical French city.
Rome - Enjoyed, a lot to see of course, some seems to be in ruins not well taken care of, their stadium in particular is sort of a shambles.

Tylenol [acetaminophen] is effective for a fever. If you just have a common cold (sniffles / cough / etc) I don't think Tylenol would be indicated. If you *do* have a fever, though, then a cold medicine including Tylenol is IMHO more effective at controlling the fever than most other OTC meds.

I generally don't get fevers when I get a cold. The one time [that I know of] that I had COVID, there was no fever. So no Tylenol for those. When I had the flu and was fighting a fever for 3 days, however, I absolutely hit the meds that included acetaminaphin. It kept my fever in check.

But I wasn't mixing it with booze... Since I had the flu and felt half dead already. It's not often I say this, but beer didn't even sound appetizing at that point.

We both had the flu - in Hawaii over NYD a few years back.  We both said it was the sickest we'd been in decades.  It was really bad.  A bad cold of course is uncomfortable, bad flu is far worse.

I worried we might starve because we were too sick to get any food at the hotel for two days.  Didn't feel like eating anyway.  I didn't think about room service.  I understand why frail elderly folks die of flu complications.
