Back from a week in SD. Our 2:40 PM flight home was delayed ... and delayed ... and delayed, the crew was stuck in Seattle. We had a roaring time in the Delta lounge with other waiting travelers. They opened the bar up later and I got some Woodford. We landed at 3:20 AM through a pretty bad thunderstorm. Found a cab and got home quickly at least.
San Diego is apparently what folks might think California is like, relatively clean, few homeless, no tents that I saw, cooler at night than I expected, below 50°F and I took no coat. We did a bus tour that was nicely done. Had lunch in Little Italy. Stayed the last night at the airport Hampton which is new and super clean. Traffic generally was not bad, I drove quite a bit (in the rented Maxima, which wasn't fun to drive at all).
I bought the wife a new jewelry box from a vendor on Lajolla Beach, he spoke fluent French which meant a large discount, beautiful inlay work. The whole family was there except my kid in Austin. Did not have any amazing food anywhere, some decent tacoes a couple times. At one place the tacoes were rolled up into cylinders which was a bit odd to me.
Nice weather in the day of course, sunny mostly, blue skies. Glad to be home again, slept well, but not long enough.
