I saw a place on DDD (??) that did grilled oysters with butter and garlic. Do you know that one?

Not sure which place DDD might have featured, but almost every place in New Orleans does grilled oysters that way, these days.  They're delicious.

The first restaurant I recall doing them, was Felix's.

We had some at Superior Seafood, and also at another place we dropped by just for a late afternoon snack called "Royal House Seafood and Oyster Bar" on Royal Street in the Quarter.  They offered those grilled oysters with butter and garlic, but also an option of adding chopped bacon and crab meat on top.  Those were great, too, but so rich-- a little goes a long way.

Superior isn't in the quarter.  And Felix's has several locations in and just outside of New Orleans.

But so many restaurants do them, I'm not sure who it might have been on DDD.

You'd most likely enjoy them at any of the places that make them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again-- your friends suck at being guides.
Yeah, they do, the lady in Austin was the same (different lady).  I've had much better luck out on my own semi-guessing at places.  We had a lunch in NO without our friend at a place I picked that was pretty good but not anything special.  My wife is convinced I have a sixth sense at picking places to dine, but much of this is from being in France.

I really have had excellent luck in France, go figure.  That could have set my bar too high.

One thing that really turns me off when dining is high noise levels.  It gets me to disliking a place right off.  We tried a highly regarded sushi place here called Eight Sushi and the noise level was ridiculous.  We had great difficult even ordering anything.  The waiter was Japanese and wearing a mask, I could not understand a thing he said.

Not going back.

One other thing with me is food often is really "OK", it's edible, maybe even flavorful, but not memorable or elevating.  It's Crackerbarrel to me, or bar food, or Olive Gaarden, or Chipotle (which my wife likes).  I much prefer the place near us called Willy's for "Mexican".  It's consistent and fun.  Anyway, I guess I'm a tough out.

I wanted to try a few DDD joints while in NO, but most are not walking distance from the tourist area I was staying

I tried the old coffeepot, it was next to Pat O'Brien's just off Bourbon St.  Walking distance and pretty good.  I had the blackened Redfish - Can't get that in Iowa

Also slid next door foe the infamous Hurricane - not impressive

Pat O's is a Bourbon Street tourist trap and Hurricanes are good if made form fresh fruit but usually they're made from pre-mixed "juice" which is a bunch of HFCS and it sucks.

Yeah, it likely didn't include Titos's, since the liquor in a hurricane, is rum. ;)

I go back to my case that all white liquor is vodka.  Anything aged is whiskey.
