So I'm driving my in-law's van to Florida for them. They are flying down with my wife and then she and I are flying back. I'll be staying about 45 minutes from Hard Rock Stadium when the Orange Bowl (NC Semi-Final, Bama vs OU) is played on December 29.
I had absolutely no intention to go until I was looking at the bowl schedule on the worldwide leader's site and noticed that tickets to the Orange Bowl can presently be purchased for as little as $92 each. Now I'm thinking about it. So I have a few questions:
First:
Doesn't that seem REALLY cheap? I've paid a LOT more than that for regular season games at Ohio State and a whole lot more than that for National Championship games. This isn't a National Championship, but it is a semi-final. It is a BIG game. I expected tickets to be a lot more so I'm just looking for thoughts from the group.
Second:
I'm interested in going, but I wouldn't be devastated if I missed the game. What do you more experienced ticket scalpers think about showing up an hour before kickoff and seeing what I can find? If they are too much I'll be out parking and 90 minutes (round trip) of driving but I'll be back where we are staying for the second half. OTOH, I've NEVER been good at scalping. Every time I have an extra ticket to sell the going rate seems to be $0.18 and every time I need to buy one the going rate seems to be $Arm, Leg, 0.18. In this case it would be lower-pressure because I'd be ok with missing the game but I'm still not sure. Is that even worth it for what I could potentially save off of the current, $~90 ea price?
Third is a deeper question. Is this a REALLY bad sign wrt to the bubble that we have long discussed on here or just something about THIS particular match-up. I can see that. Bama fans have been overloaded with GREAT games the past 5-10 years so maybe they are cool to the idea of travelling to THIS game and/or waiting for the NC against (presumably) Clemson. Oklahoma fans know the reality, their team is a humongous underdog so why bother?
