I figured Dan Mullen would.get another season, but down 30-10 to South Carolina's backup QB, may suggest otherwise
Third string QB. Won the staff did not appear to have much faith in, but he did look pretty good.

Also, Mullen has two potential paths. He can go be a national championship level coordinator for a defense of coach lets him run the show and doesn’t need him to be the best recruiter in the room.

Or, he can be the kind of coach who raises up a mid tier program and does more with less.

But unless he lands the exact perfect coordinator, the exact perfect staff at the right job, not that top 3% Coach.

This is a generationally-bad Carolina team.  Their only SEC win before tonight was by 1 point to an especially bad Vandy.
Mullen has lost the team.
I don't care if half the team had a bad case of the flu....if most of them opted to just not play, it's because they didn't want to, not that they couldn't.

8-4 should have been a certainty, but now .500 isn't even in the bag.

You are going to have to explain how OSU and Bama had consistent ugly unimpressive wins over opponents as bad as Tulsa, Navy, and Tulane.
OSU already has an ugly win over Tulsa, an ugly loss to Oregon, and their best win isn't as good as Cincinnati's. Why should we let OSU continue in the top 15 when their resume is worse than the Bearcats?

A lot of ugly looking wins by upper level teams yesterday, and the two Ls.  I have no clue how LSU stayed close at Bama, and I watched most of it.  I agree the Gators have mailed it in, Mullen is going to face questions, but still won't be fired, he might leave for somewhere (NFL???).  A&M had a nice game, shut down Auburn.  Auburn has the potential to beat Bama on the Plains.  It's a tough place to play.

Way to go Purdue!  When a QB gets the hot hand ...

Wake gave up a zillion points, again.  The ACC is pretty bad, it seems.  Miami won again, beat Tech.

Tomorrow's Top 25 Today: Oklahoma, Alabama to jump Cincinnati in new college football rankings - CBSSports.com

A summary of how each team looked, in effect, and a lot of ranked teams looked pretty mediocre to bad.

Cincy is not doing itself favors.  Bama looked pretty bad.  OU was off, so they looked fine, projected to be #2.  Wake lost.

Dan Mullen isn't coming back from this
Florida might not fire Dan Mullen tomorrow. It might not fire him at the end of the season. Regardless, a 40-17 loss to South Carolina was a point of no return for one of the proudest programs in college football.
Just weeks ago, South Carolina needed late heroics just to beat Vanderbilt. Against the Gators, the Gamecocks were down to their third-string quarterback, Jason Brown, a transfer from FCS St. Francis. And yet, the 'Cocks didn't just beat the Gators. They wiped the floor with them.
South Carolina outgained Florida by more than 100 yards of total offense and by more than 200 yards on the ground. Mullen's team was thoroughly undisciplined, unprepared and completely outclassed on both sides to the point that even South Carolina coach Shane Beamer sounded surprised at halftime
Earlier this week, Mullen made headlines by declining a recruiting question and declaring this time period "Football Time." After that SNAFU, all media availability was cancelled for the rest of the week. Apparently all the extra time didn't do him much good.

Of course yes you see this-good ,but when I was discussing John Cooper with others stumbling his 1st 5 seasons you interjected nonsense.Mullen's Conference Record is better at this point than Coopers was - so give DM a break will you, for 13 seasons.Depends on whose ox is getting gored I guess ;D

Sooners have a rough schedule to end their season. If they win out they would deserve the shot.

33-14 record (Mullen at Florida)

The team is 4-5,  Mullen has a very solid 33-14 record at Florida, but his team is just 2-8 in its last nine games against Power Five teams, and it's clear things are trending in the wrong direction.

Perhaps I haven't looked at the computer rankings but that won't be the case after Purdue/MSU/UM.Remember we're cannibalizing each other. The Ducks deserve a seat in front should they win out.Tide shouldn't be too high as they beat a 4-4 team by less than a TD
