A&M, Colorado, and KSU weren't turrible in the first 5 or so seasons in the B12

Yeah.....we take turns.
Unlike the Big Ten (UM, OSU forever), Big 8 (OU, UNL forever), Pac (USC forever), ACC (FSU, Clemson forever).
The SEC has depth.  It's not stagnant.
Alabama (forever, minus the late-90s)
Auburn 2004, 2010
Florida (90s, 2006, 2008)
LSU (2003, 2007, 2019)
Tennessee (90s)
Georgia (now)

Just learn to take turns.
You ever look up Big 8 championships ?  It’s literally all Nebraska and OU, for like 50-60 years. And if it is anybody else, it’s a shared title. At least the SWC had almost all the teams winning a conference title once in a while.

Yes.
That's the point.

Again, I am against this move unless it was apparent that Fisher was really just mailing it in.

I just don’t see how this has anything with OU and UT entering the conference next year. We probably won’t even play OU for several years and I’ll trade Bama, Auburn, or Georgia for UT and OU any day.

Just going by what I hear from my Ag inlaws and other Ag friends.  They think Jimbo is a failed experiment and didn't want to enter next year's new SEC featuring the entrance of Texas and OU, with him at the helm.

They don't speak for all ags of course, you can certainly have a differing opinion, but that is absolutely a real and stated opinion of many ags, indeed the overwhelming majority of ag fans I know in real life.

Anyway, I won't say I think it's premature because I don't think Jimbo was ever going to do any better at A&M, but the timing is surprising given just how much it's going to cost TAMU.

I'd guess the "donation" is tax deductible

Texas & OU joining and slotting (on the whole, on the average) above A&M (no offense) with a HC that's had 6 seasons without winning even a division title.
The closest A&M came was the covid season where they went 9-1, but were 28 points worse than Alabama.

They never really got close to winning anything under him.  So yeah, giving him all the dollars was stupid and letting him go makes sense.

I think it's not now.

This is correct, I’m pretty sure.

It is. Any restricted or unrestricted (unrestricted is the case here) are deductible. I do it all the time.

What is not tax deductible are contributions to collectives and NIL, etc.

I would guess different states have different rules for state taxes

Fed might be the same, but those guys are sneaky, they're good at finding the loop hole

You don't deduct anything at the state level. The states (not mine) use the federal return and take their piece of the pie.

Solved: Are contributions to college athletic funds deductable if priority points are included? (intuit.com)

The new law essentially replaces the 80 percent in the 80/20 rule with 0 percent. This means that, as of Jan. 1, 2018, donors who make a contribution to or for the benefit of a college or university in exchange for the right to purchase tickets or seating at an athletic event in the university’s stadium can no longer take a charitable deduction on 80 percent of the contribution.

The law clearly states that, “no charitable deduction will be allowed for any amount” of these contributions.
