Yeah, I'm not sure I'd put this Nebraska team in their own Top 15 teams in school history,  but here they are.

Pitt is really good.  They needed to serve aggressive and they did, the errors did pile up, and frankly Nebraska finally got the block to catch up and slow down the match.

Should be fun match Saturday.   Wisconsin had a great contribution of their own from a newbie.  Candidly, without her I think Louisville squeezes that out.  Great 5th set by Wisconsin.

I feel like Nebraska is an imposter at this FF. Perhaps jaded by the garbage I witnessed in person last month at IU.   Wheels turning now I guess.

Wisconsin rolls.

They block everything on defense, and they drop atomic bombs on offense.

yup, watching the Wisconsin/Louisville match, no way the Huskers can hang, BUT.............

ya never know

winning 3 in one season vs John Cook is tough, but the Badgers have won 7 in a row vs Cook

Wisconsin is -155
Nebraska +115.

Chatter Batenhorst may have an injured left wrist from her tumble Thursday.  That would be a problem.

Will be a different roster match-up for both teams compared to first two matches.

On paper UW has no business losing this match.

Sure would be nice to send that traitorous Lexi out with 2 tournament losses to the Horns. :)

As the official’s whistle sounded for the final time on Saturday night, signifying the final point in No. 10 Nebraska’s win over No. 2 Texas in the Austin Regional Final, ESPNU’s television cameras captured a moment of pure joy as the players from Nebraska’s bench sprinted out onto the court to celebrate with their teammates that had just completed the four-set win.

Among them was Lexi Sun, the two-time All-American and All-Big Ten outside hitter who chose to return for a fifth season of eligibility. Sun spent her first three years in Lincoln as starter, but she hasn’t played one point since the first round of this year’s NCAA Tournament. She watched from the bench as two freshmen led the Huskers to a win over her former team, just eight months after the Longhorns ended the Huskers’ season in the Elite Eight in Omaha (Sun started and hit .000 in that match).

Yet she was leading the charge off the bench, overcome with emotion as she embraced her teammates. “I’m so proud of you,” she appeared to say to Madi Kubik, the junior who stepped into Sun’s shoes as the team’s go-to hitter this season.

That was quality TV.  Nebraska almost stole that one.  Really bummed with that 2nd set.  Obviously it was a deuce set and each side had multiple shots,  just didn't need to get to that for Nebraska. Series of errors (ie reg season offense resurfaced).  To be that close and get blocked 25 times or whatever.  That would have been some upset with those numbers.  Masterful coaching and of course brilliant defense, 90 digs!  I'm not certain, but that might be the tightest 5 set final in history.

Nice to see more new Champs for vball.   Maybe someday, others will recognize that this and not womens basketball, is the sport espn should be pimping.  Congratulations to Wisconsin and Sheffield, a Shondell disciple.  That's two Munciana alum in a row.

For some reason, a media guide I read back in college made it seem like UW Volleyball burst onto the scene with the 2000 title match run. And I'd never bothered to check back on that until last night. ... and there I see the Neb connection and had an "ooohhhhhh" moment.

Also, frickin' Munciana

yes, great match - blocks won out over digs

pleasantly surprised that the Husker ladies really belonged - definitely one of the top 4 teams at the end of the season

Corngrats to the Badger ladies and especially Rettke

the 5th year senior was the best player on the court and probably the difference
