If you get two teams into the CFP, it obviously bumps everyone else up a notch and that can make it more difficult.  But bowl outcomes I think often are unexpected.

It would probably only bump up top 3 actually.  Penn State is likely in the Cotton Bowl now, but would move to the Rose if 2 make it.  No other Big Ten team would make the New Years 6 so 3 either way in it.

There are two ways to move everyone down though.  It would move everyone down if Penn State doesn't make the New Years Six or if the SEC gets two in and it pushes Penn State to the Orange Bowl.  In that case, the Big Ten gives up the Citrus Bowl.  As the Orange Bowl is a host bowl with direct contracts with the conferences, the Big Ten gets a lot more for getting in it than the Cotton.

Some crazy things may (will?) yet happen ...

Ohio State beats UM and then loses to Iowa

The CFP is UGA, LSU, Bama, and OSU.
This raises an interesting point.

I believe that the B1GCG is irrelevant to CFP entrance. The tOSU/M winner is obviously in at 13-0 if they win the B1GCG but they would also be in at 12-1 either team.

It may not even matter much for seeding depending on how things break elsewhere.

It matters a lot for the B1G-W champion as it is probably the difference between the Rose Bowl and a WAY down bowl.

The B1G bowls wouldn't change much as noted above with two in the CFP.  It would impact other conferences USUALLY.

The SEC now could well get two if LSU wins the CG.  Things are crazy.

LOL.

Still, ACC seems pretty weak. ND looked like world beaters vs Clemson. Not so much vs Marshall. Or Stanford. Or Ohio State. Or pretty much every non-ACC team.

After what I saw South Carolina do to Tennessee, I'd actually be kinda shocked if Clemson beats them by a lot. I think it'll be close and I think South Carolina might actually win.

USCe is an unpredictable kind of team.  They lost at Arkansas early, which happens, and then to Mizzou at home, which shouldn't, and got scorched by Florida (who lost to Vandy).  They play at Clemson, which is not an easy place to play.  My guess is Clemson wins rather late something like 38-28.

Clemson might also win 48-7.

Rattler was making every throw last night, it was amazing.

IF Georgia, USC, TCU and the OSU/Mich winner end up in the CFP final 4,  then PSU could get shut out of a NY6 Bowl.

If TCU is in the CFP, then the Big 12's spot in the Sugar bowl goes to the Big 12 runner-up, let's say KSU.

If USC is in the CFP, then the PAC's Rose Bowl spot goes to the PAC runner-up,  let's say Oregon.

If Georgia goes to the CFP, then the SEC runnerup goes to the Sugar, let's say LSU.

The Mich/OSU loser will go to the Rose.

The ACC winner goes to the Orange, let's say Clemson.

That leaves Tenn, Bama and PSU to compete for the other spot in the Orange.  Throw in North Carolina and Utah as extra competition for the Cotton

Of course somebody usually gets upset in one of the CCG games, so that could still open up a spot for PSU.

Only thing that would make that sweeter would have been a timeout under one minute to give the Cocks a chance to score 70 on that asshat
What's funny is that the Vols' brass has to be OU fans.  The moment that job comes open, Heupel is gone.  They need him to be inconsistent and for Venables to succeed.
Off to a bad start, lol.

There are more ways than I was thinking to keep Penn State out.  Only one truly open spot (the Cotton vs. the top G5 team) limits things a lot.

I should be hoping TCU wins out, I think, if they stay four and UGA wins out.  USC might be dangerous, not sure, I do think OSU is dangerous.  I don't think UGA can lose at home against Tech unless tihngs get very weird.

They could lose to LSU, I think that possible.  If so, I'd opine they shouldn't be in the playoff, but would be.
