Breaking on the ESPN ticker just now.

Something to do with sexual harassment allegations.   :smiley_confused1:

Oh lord, if this spreads to college coaches......it's gonna take awhile.

That was my take as well.  I've been reminiscing about this the past hour.   Not so much about Rich Rod, just these kinds of events.   Lots of guys would never make it in these times from year's past.   In my former life as a beat writer/guy who was around coaches and locker rooms, I can think of one guy who openly talked smut (frequently), way out of bounds stuff.  Another guy had some legendary rants most in private, a few public.  The things said would never be tolerated today.
No I'm not going to name them, but they would be known names.    One guy is still in the DI head coaching ranks.   I'm never surprised to hear about private conduct from public figures.  None of us should be, if we've learned anything from OJ, Tiger, Pitino, Sandusky, etc.   human beings are capable of anything.

So I heard about this an hour ago, and my first reaction was to laugh if for no other reason in the last 14 years Arz fired their coach days after losing to Purdue (Tiller crushed John Mackovic like 59-7 with Orton, pissed and moaned about the score being ran up, and was out of a job a day or 2 later even though it was only September.

Then I read more and more stories and I was confused exactly why he was being fired.  Then I read his statement a few minutes after hearing the ESPN repor on it that Arizona had investigated and they didn't find the charges were substantiated.
So I ask:   is this truly a football / AD vs Coach chemistry decision and this maybe/maybe not sexual harassment deal just happens to have been going on as well?
Any Arizona fans, you know what this looks like on the frontlines more than we would, what's the inside scoop?

Because if all it takes is an accusation, which the employer deems untruthful, and then a lawsuit puts it over the top despite it being substantiated, we're going down a scary road.

And trust me, I've had a ball making fun of RichRod for the disaster he was at Mich, crying about being duped by the "fake kneel down" before the half even though many saw it coming, for some of his whining in general over the years and for having a "punchable face", but if what he says is legit, this is utter crap they canned him. The foolish attempt at trying to switch Mich from a historical traditional pro style outfit to a run-first spread notwithstanding, he's a pretty damn decent football mind from what I can gather.
Again, to go back to my last post, surely there's more to this story or this simply was a program direction / chemistry decision and they wanted him out no matter what? Until Tate started playing this year most presumed he was on the hot seat after the 3-9 stinker in 2016, so was the sexual harassment thing just a story that happened to occur at the same time the ship was headed for rocks?

Seems like they would give Sumlin or Todd Graham long looks.  How crazy would it be for Todd Graham to end up there?

I thought is was for a hostile work environment for which they found no evidence either way.  Moral to the story is bring donuts into work now and then and make sure it's documented.

OK, so who's buyout is going to be bigger, Rich Rod's from Arizona or Rita Setliff's (his wife) from Rich Rod.

Discuss.

Please don't mistake me for a Rich Rod defender, but I am confused. They did a full investigation a year ago on the claim and closed it without any findings.

I am starting to wonder if the current climate becomes a tool for which to fire a coach with cause. When the undertones are that it is really performance and relationship based.

This inspired me to review the Bobby Petrino details, and it turns out that his mistress's fiance didn't even break off the engagement after her affair went public.

He actually went through with the nuptials.
