Return of The Battle of The River Raisin (SOC 10/30/21)
« on: October 30, 2021, 06:05:30 AM »
Too much going on this weekend - bunch of ratty kids in the house last night. Some still sleeping. About to go get donuts for them, which they will probably use to throw all over the walls. The wife scored free tickets to the game, I suppose I'll keep her around. I haven't been down to the Horseshoe in forever, pray I will make it there and back. Tomorrow everyone going to Cedar Point except me. My dentist, who looks about 19, said Cedar Point is so much fun - why don't you want to go? I told him that when he has three kids, a day without them is like a day at Cedar Point.

Leaving Monday so lots of food in the fridge to whip up.

Lunch will be egg drop soup and egg foo young (lots of eggs to use up).

Evening will be mini dogs wrapped in crescent rolls, burgers, homemade fries.

Probably time to get to work.

My wife is still in bed, which is fine, she gets up early in the week for pilates.  Early for her means 7:30.

I watched the Braves game late and slept till around 7.  A lot going on today when you add the baseball to the equation.  Another Braves win and I might start thinking they are better than I expected.  Bullpen game afoot, a new thing really in baseball, two in a row I hear with Morton out.

The WLOCP has me panicked, this is the sort of game the Dawgs have often blown.

The Resident Genius World Headquarters in St. Paul, as well as Izzo the dog, is firmly in the Michigan State camp. My wife was the only person in her graduating class to go to MSU. UM and Notre Dame were, far and away, the most popular choices.

Speaking of Ann Arbor, yesterday we took a virtual cooking class from Zingerman's Bakehouse. In this class, we made calzones, stromboli, and a stuffed pizza with a meatball-based filling and a hot water crust. It was delicious.

As for the Cocktail Party, Georgia has been spitting this game up as big favorites for as long as I've been following college football. This is the expectaion unless and until demonstrated otherwise.

My SIL invited us to go "picnic", i.e. drink wine in a park over the ocean instead of a house, today. So that's a start. Then my friend from NC said "why don't we all drink together separately Saturday?" so when we get home from the park, we're gonna be drinking on Zoom. After that, I will light a fire and start cooking. Should be 100% safe. Good thing I'm a professional.

Dinner is going to be simple though... Wife is picking up prepared kabobs from the market, and I'll grill those, and she'll make a salad for the side. Tomorrow we're going to do steak and potatoes.

Last night was a very good cacio e pepe though.
