I had Hattie B's in Nashville once, but we didn't have time to get to Gus's. Still mad about it, though didn't realize it was a large chain at this point.
If you want great fried chicken in Nashville, go to Puckett's. Nothing else compares.

My 16yo son works at Raising Cane's.  All the high school kids go there all the time, partly because they're open really late.  Personally I think there are many better chicken places but a lot of folks seem to like it.

We've just brainwashed all of them to mindlessly contribute to our NIL.

In downtown Denver, we ended up eating here on Saturday night:

Osteria Marco

One of the better restaurant experiences I've had in a while... We started with the ricotta & toast appetizer, which was quite nice. Wife had the spaghetti pomodoro with italian sausage, and I had the short rib over mascarpone polenta. Everything was just right.

If you're in the area, I'd recommend this one.

Tomorrow is mine and my i s c & a aggie wife's 25th wedding anniversary.   So this past weekend we did a bit of a staycation and went downtown in Austin for a meal at one of our favorite restaurants, saw some live music from one of our favorite local artists, and stayed in a downtown hotel after doing a little bar-hopping.

The restaurant was Uchiko and while it's always good, I'd have to say this particular meal is probably the best meal I've ever had in my life.  I had a pocketful of cash and we didn't look at the prices on the menu even once.  It was a fantastic evening.

I don't think anyone goes to Cane's because the chicken is especially better than anywhere else.
It's the sauce.
It's the same sauce you find at I'm sure are dozens of different places, and it's not new.  A place in Gainesville 25 years ago had that sauce, called Guthrie's.

The sauce isn't some otherworldy thing, either, but it is good.  It's different.

I will say a well-cooked crinkle-cut fry is the best fry, and they have crinkle-cut fries.  Not usually cooked perfectly, though.  I only mention it because In-n-Out is always called the best ff burger...but their fries are the absolute worst.

Crinkle fries - Portillo's and Culver's. Get the cheese sauce.
