Acme Oyster House

Acme Oyster House has delicious options like the Fried Oyster Remoulade and Fried Oyster Po’boy, and even a Fried Oyster Salad. “The oysters are the best in the area no matter if you are looking for raw, fried or my favorite, chargrilled. Secret is in the sauce. The salads are pretty good as well as po-boys,” one customer shared.

Hank’s Oyster Bar

Hank’s Oyster Bar has Fried Oysters available as a small/large plate menu item served with French fries and as part of their Ultimate Fry Plate (Scallops, Oysters, Popcorn Shrimp, Calamari, Blue Catfish Fingers, and Hushpuppies). Diners can also choose the Fried Oyster Po’boy.

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen serves up Cajun-style Fried Oysters customers love. “If you have a Pappadeaux nearby… GO! One of my all time favorite restaurants! My closest one is an hour away but I make the trek for it!” one Redditor raved.

The Original Oyster House

The Original Oyster House has “delicious, plump, and specially breaded” Deep Fried Oysters on the menu. “From the fiery oysters to the blackened shrimp tacos, we loved everything, and it tasted fantastic,” one customer said. “The service was great and very friendly, even though they were jampacked with customers everyone tried to give the best service they could.”

The Boiling Crab

The Boiling Crab has Fried Oysters as part of their “I Like It Fried” menu offerings. “The most amazing staff and delicious bags of seafood And the oysters are to die for,” one diner raved. “i can’t wait to get back in a few days to come in for dinner.”

Felix’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar

Diners at Felix’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar can get delicious Fried Oysters served with hushpuppies, French Fries, and Coleslaw, plus a large selection of other oyster treats. “The oysters were hands-down some of the best we’ve ever had: fresh, perfectly shucked, and full of that briny Gulf flavor. Whether raw, chargrilled, or Rockefeller, each one was a knockout,” one happy customer said.

Half Shell Oyster House

Half Shell Oyster House serves up top-notch Fried Gulf Oyster Po-Boys. “Half Shell Oyster House in Gulfport exceeded all expectations!” one happy diner said. “The oysters were absolutely incredible—perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and downright delicious. The red beans and rice were also a standout, full of rich, comforting goodness.”

The food at the Pappadeaux in Phoenix was good, but they haven't redecorated since 1983.

They are OK IMHO for a chain, basically an upscale Red Lobster.  I haven't been in ages to either.  We're making an effort to avoid chains, for the most part (see next post).

I took my wife to Fogo da Chao (again) last night.  She really likes it oddly enough.  One thing they do is have some quite large incentives to return if you join their frequent diner club, last might I got one $65 dinner "free".  Their wait staff is quite good, you don't have a single server, a group sees to your wants and needs efficiently.  In reality, I'd be fine with just their "salad bar", which is more than enough aside from the steak that comes around.  Is it the best steak possible?  No, I had a lamb chop that was really good, the steak was in the very good range, not great, but very good.  My wife had some occasional problem getting something "blu rare", but they'd go back and bring the same cut more rare for her, which is nice.  They offer pretty decent drink prices also, but the tab starts to climb of course with alcohol, even with a "freebie".

It is a chain of course, not a huge one, but the two I've dined at were both overall a solid experience.  This one is about 4 miles north of us, so not a walk.

Pappadeaux is decent cajun food.  Extremely pricey though.  There are hole in the wall joints that are better and cheaper.

Acme is great, I guess it's a "chain" since they have 5 locations I think, but it's not like Chili's or something.  I hit the original one in the New Orleans French quarter every time I go.  Same thing for Felix's which is right across the street.

I've never heard of any of the others.

Their happy hour is actually pretty good if you aren't trying to eat 12 pounds of meat in a setting.

The two prominent sea food places near us closed recently.  One was unlamented, Oceanaire, we went once, expensive and rather mediocre.  The other is part of a very local chain of different restaurants, this one called Lure, which we liked pretty much.  The other places in that "chain" are doing well, this one didn't.  So, we have only one "fish" place left, which I like but my wife doesn't much.  It's kind of casual, but has a nice upper level deck and decent prices, almost a bar more than restaurant, usually pretty crowded.

Of course, we're quite distant from a coast, so everything is frozen, some is pretty decent.  Other places will serve fish amongst whatever else of course, but I'm content with the steelhead trout we get at Costco grilled.

What in the hell good is any meal if it doesn't include at least 12 pounds of meat?!?!?

I can tell I'm old by the fact that going to an all you can eat meat fest no longer holds much attraction and the idea just makes me sleepy

I once ate 103 shrimp (fried) at RL when they had the AYCE specials.  I was young.
