Several programming notes are in order:

No results will be tabulated next week. The thread posted on October 28 will contain results from both Weeks 8 and 9.

The reason for this is that next Friday, yours truly will be sitting in a ballroom at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, taking the professional engineer exam. I'm clearing my schedule so that I can hope to be properly prepped for that all-day exam. If this goes well, I'll be able to tack P.E. on the end of my professional title. Unfortunately, Minnesota does not have a neat seal to sign, like Washington and Pennsylvania (and some others).

I won't be the only one testing my mettle. The Purdue Boilermakers haven't had a good middle section of the season, and a road game at Kinnick Stadium isn't a great place to get things back on track. One way to get things going your way is to hold onto the ball as long as they can. They haven't done a good job of it so far this year, averaging 28:59 of possession per game. On the other hand, Iowa is king of holding. They're second in the league at 34:15/game, second only to Wisconsin (they've kept it 37 minutes and change).

Q: What will Purdue's time of possession be in their game at Iowa?

Deadline is Saturday, October 19 at 11 AM CDT.  Good hunting.

Oh, and the PE exam... While not easy by any stretch, I found it much better that the EIT exam, or whatever they call that these days. That exam was a BITCH, and it took me days to recover from it.

Good luck pal.
