Resident Genius Week 1: A Changing of the Guard
« on: August 28, 2023, 06:30:56 PM »
Good afternoon all, and welcome to the 2023 version of everyone's favorite college football guessing game, Resident Genius!

The premise is simple: There are many measurables that are measured in a football game. Each week, I will ask you to guess one of them.

SCORING: Entries shall be sorted in ascending order based on the absolute value of the difference between the entry and the correct answer, unless specifically noted otherwise. The closest entry shall receive a score of -5 points. The remainder of the entries shall receive scores based on the rank of the difference between the entry and the correct value.

In the event of a tie, each entry involved in the tie shall receive the score commensurate with the placing of the entry on the list. For example, if 3 people tie for 4th place, all three entries involved in the tie shall receive a score of 4. The next entry on the list (or entries if tied) shall receive a score of 7, since 5th and 6th were involved in the aforementioned tie.

In order to get the -5 score, the entry must be the sole winner. If there is a tie for the win, all involved in the tie shall receive a score of 1.

The person with the lowest overall score at the end of the season shall be declared the Resident Genius.

Scores and entries will be processed on Tuesdays, unless noted otherwise. I try to have 3 or 4 leaderboard updates throughout the season.

All disputes will be settled by me. All judgements are final.

We begin this year's installment at Camp Randall in Madison. After 30 years of 3 yards and a cloud of rubber pellets, new coach Luke Fickell is bringing with him an air raid offense worthy of the Big 12. A tuneup on opening Saturday at a very hot Camp Randall against Buffalo is a good way to start working through things under live circumstances.

Q: How many PASSING yards will the Wisconsin Badgers have against Buffalo?

Deadline is Saturday, September 2 at 2:30 PM CDT.  Good hunting.

Have no fooking Idea found this:

The team was 6-0 last year when running for more than 192 yards, 1-6 when it didn’t, and was 7-1 when running for 4.5 yards per carry or better. To take this even further, the program is 22-1 over the last four years when getting past 192 yards

Suburbia:Where they tear out the trees & then name streets after them.
