Percent of Undefeated Teams with 1st Loss
Week 0/1:  36.92% (48/130)

Maximum possible Undefeated Teams at End of the Regular Season:
13: We can have one undefeated in each conference plus Notre Dame, BYU, and Liberty.

Week 1 Thoughts:
-It’s always good to have football back!

-We lost about the same number of teams as last year in week 0 and 1.  Last year it was 47 out of 130, this year 48 out of 130 (the 130 switched out Idaho for Liberty between the 2 years).

-Great start for the SEC, especially the west.  I went into the week thinking the Big Ten East was the best division in college football but would now have to argue for the SEC West.  Several good wins this week.  Will leave other thoughts on the make-up between the conferences after we get some more data.

-Early in the race for the access bowl spot for the highest Group of 5 champion, but biggest early contenders seem to be what we expected.  Boise State and Central Florida both started quite strong and leading two candidates early, but realistically still very open.  Opening week showed just how important every week is for this spot.  Appalachian State would have been in serious talk for the spot if they could have finished out the upset of Penn State.  Coming out with even a close loss though will make it a very uphill battle to get considered even going perfect the rest the way though.  They are not going to have anywhere near the chance for that high profile a win going forward (assuming Penn State is decent) and, even as a 12-1 Sun Belt champ, will likely need a lot to happen to get in over the American and Mountain West champs as strength of schedule will likely hurt going forward.

Week 2 Thoughts:
-If I counted correctly, there will be 21 games between undefeated FBS teams next week.

-Games of note to me for various reasons are:
1.  Clemson @ Texas A&M:  This will shape the narrative of the season a lot going forward.  If Texas A&M wins, the SEC West will be a monster and talk of 2 teams from the SEC getting in again will intensify.  If Clemson wins, talk of them being on a collision course with Alabama again will be there and continue until one of the two losses.
2.  USC @ Stanford:  Wow this feels early.  Winner of this will be one of the favorites in the PAC-12.  There will be absolutely no margin for error for the looser of this the rest of the way.
3. Georgia Tech @ South Florida:  This is South Florida’s toughest nonconference game and winning it will leave them in good position for access bowl spot heading into conference play in a few weeks.
4.  Kansas @ Central Michigan:  In a few weeks I will start up the winless list and Kansas has been on that list a long time many of the past few years.  This is probably the game they will be the smallest of underdog going forward (6.5 point underdogs).  Only other possibility I believe for a smaller one if things remain how they look now is week 3 at home vs. Rutgers.
5.  Michigan State @ Arizona State and Colorado @ Nebraska:  Some Big Ten vs. PAC-12 challenges that were probably originally scheduled during the brief Big Ten-PAC-12 scheduling alliance that broke down.  Winning these kind of games helps give conference playoff bowl contenders a chance down the road.

Remaining Undefeated Teams:  ACC: 10, American: 6, Big 12: 7, Big Ten: 12, Conference USA: 6, MAC: 6, Mountain West: 6, PAC-12: 8, SEC: 13, Sun Belt: 5, independents: 3, total: 82
