Iowa (4-1). I know how bad Iowa is on offense. Defense is not quite as good as 2022, but quite credible. Special teams are as good as ever. Thank you, Coach Levar Woods, possibly next head coach of Iowa. No -- he won't hire his son to assist. Purdue historically is a difficult nut to crack, for Iowa. Iowa lost its starting QB for the season, but this week Deacon Hill has more time to prepare.
Purdue (2-3). I have watched some of their games. They are close to the quality of team at Iowa. I am going with the home field advantage. If this game were at Purdue, I would probably select Purdue.

I have noticed that former Iowa WR Tyrone Tracy has switched to RB for Purdue and already has 5 TD's for Purdue this season.

Current Iowa WR Diante Vines reminds of Tracy a little bit in the sense that both had/have trouble catching the ball.  Tracy got a lot of playing time early in his career at Iowa but he kept dropping the ball, and eventually his playing time diminished and he finally transfered to Purdue.

It makes me wonder if things don't work out for Vines at WR if Iowa can find other ways to use him.  Maybe at RB or CB?

Meanwhile, the one Iowa guy who seems good at catching the ball,  super athlete Cooper DeJean,  never plays offense.    It would be cool to see him play WR for Iowa.  OR Maybe play QB in the wildcat.  Of course it's been pointed out the Iowa defense is already playing 97 plays a game.

I am convinced Cooper Dejean will play some offense this week. Line him up in the backfield. Pitch toss to right or left. Give him the option to pass or run, and let it rip.

But, he will be put in at WR, and get a few catches. Not sure when he gets to rest.

I agree with Hawkinole.

I will add, Purdue made some changes going into the game last week that worked well for them.

They put OC Graham Harrell up in the booth.  They also emphasized the run game, and moved away from read option (Card was not executing it well).  These changes really opened up the Purdue O and gave them an identity.  Tracy has looked excellent as a RB.  They still pass the ball a lot of course.

Ryan Walters took over calling plays for the defense.  The alignments and coverages put the defense in a much better position.  Front 4/5 looked solid.

Those two things made all the difference. Purdue looked great last week.

Nice article about Tyrone Tracy. Sometimes all it takes is getting the right coach at the right place.

I do have to break some news to the Hawkeyes here with us.

I know Purdue WRs have been giving you nightmares for years.  Rondale Moore, David Bell, Chuck Sizzle.

#4 Deion Burks has looked great this year and is likely next in line as a standout Boiler WR.

Rondale Moore or David Bell I can live with.  It's when guys like  Elijah Sindelar that come out of nowhere and catch 2 TD passes against Iowa that drives Iowa fans and Phil Parker crazy.
