Penn State's performance shuffles the top 4 a bit from last week.

1) Wisconsin #2
2) MSU #3
3) OSU #4
4) PSU #1
5) Michigan
6) Northwestern
7) Iowa
8) Nebraska
9) Purdue
10) Maryland
11) Indiana
12) Minnesota
13) Illinois
14) Rutgers

Should have went with the Badgers @ #1 last week

heh, I heard some talking head on ESPN proclaim that the Big Ten East + Wisconsin was the best division in college football. Didn't know we were allowed to just draft extra teams into the division, Wisconsin is a pretty good pick.

I've noticed the national media is putting the Badgers in the "elite" level the 4 East teams in the have been labeled, I'm also seeing that on this board. Is Wisconsin the Alabama of the West?

I get worried when so many teams get labeled elite, does that really mean that all of them are just really good, and no one of them has separated to actual elite levels?

There is only one elite team in the conference, despite popular belief.

Go RED!
Look further East for another school that wears a shade of red.

1) Ohio State - class of the conference until proven otherwise
2) Wisconsin - team to beat in the West
3) Maryland - they deserve it this week
4) Michigan State - took way too much effort to topple Utah St
5) Penn State - See Sparty, except replace USU with Appy St
6) Iowa - Strong second half, now they just need to put together a complete game
7) Michigan - is it too early to start a fundraiser for Harby’s buyout?  The offense is not improving.
8) Northwestern - Good road performance @ Purdue.  Currently enjoying a 1-game advantage in the West
9) Purdue - Hesrtbreaking loss, but still a  rock-solid team.  No reason they can’t go bowling again
10) Minnesota - ate their cupcake like they should have
11) Rutgers - See Minnesota
12) Indiana - Road wins are always nice
13) Illinois - Looks like they’re going to struggle again this season

Inc. - Nebraska.  Scott Frost’s debut will have to wait another week.

I moved Indiana way up because they had an impressive win on the road over a good program. You moved Maryland up because they had a big win over a traditionally good program.
Maybe I should have moved Maryland up more. I have a feeling from the way they played that Texas does not deserve its preseason ranking, but it is still an FBS P-5 program.

I don’t necessarily think UMD is the third-best team in the conference; and I doubt Texas is the 23rd best team in the country this year (but of course it’s too soon to tell).  The B1G as a whole struggled a bit in Week 1 and UMD gave one of the more impressive performances, so I figured they deserved a high ranking as much as anyone this week.  I suspect they’ll probably slip towards the middle of the pack as the season progresses, but who knows.

I’d have given IU more respect for beating FAU on the road than FIU.  And FAU could well be a one-season wonder.  They have some potential to move up, but even beating one of the Big Four would be a huge accomplishment this year, though three of them do look at least somewhat vulnerable

Yeah, a little too far to the East for those two.

OSU is the only school in the conference I would consider elite right now. Don't tell that to PJ Barnum though.
