Other P5 CG races after week 8
« on: October 24, 2022, 02:49:50 PM »
ACC:
Clemson has practically although not mathematically clinched a spot as they are undefeated and have wins over the two one-loss teams in their division.

North Carolina will almost certainly be Clemson's CG opponent as they have a two game lead in their division.

B12:
TCU certainly has the inside track for one spot but it really is pretty wide open with two one-loss teams (OkSU, KSU) and three two-loss teams (TX. Baylor, TxTech).

P12:
Oregon has the inside track for one spot but it really is pretty wide open with three one-loss teams (USC, UCLA, Utah) and two two-loss teams (OrSU, UW).

SEC:
East:
If Georgia (WLOCP), and Tennessee (vs Kentucky) both win this weekend then their game in Athens next weekend will effectively clinch it for the winner.

West:
This is an interesting race at least for now. Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss each have one loss. Bama and LSU are both off this weekend preparing to face each other next weekend while Ole Miss is in College Station this weekend then has next weekend off before hosting Bama. Thus, we'll pretty much know the answer from Bama's next two games.

UGA has a bit of a challenge even with a win over Tennessee with games at UK and Miss State, both loseable road games.  The Vols host Mizzou and play at South Carolina and Vandy.  The SEC W is more competitive obviously, but I think Bama wins out.

I tend to agree but if LSU wins next weekend that nearly clinches it for them and the game is in Baton Rouge not Tuscaloosa.

Indeed, a win over Bama and they'd have @Arky and @A&M needing to win one, unless Ole Miss runs the table, and they play @ Bama.  So LSU controls their destiny.  Bama does as well, Ole Miss needs a break.

UGA and Tenn have played no common opponents, though that changes Saturday in Jville.
