  • Finished season by beating 4 straight ranked teams, including #4 Texas A&M 28-3 in the Cotton Bowl
  • All-Americans: OG Aaron Taylor (consensus), RB Reggie Brooks, TE Irv Smith, CB Tom Carter

1996 Nebraska (11-2)
  • Shut out in Week 2 by #17 Arizona State, to snap 26 game overall winning streak, and 37 game regular season, dating back to November 14, 1992
  • Beat #16 Kansas State by 36, and #5 Colorado
  • Upset by Texas in the inaugural Big XII Championship Game
  • Beat #10 Virginia Tech 41-21 in the Orange Bowl

I just don't think Nebraska could exploit ND's weakness (pass D).
