Going to vote for the last year of no playoff, which gave me (selfishly) MSU appearing in the last traditional Rose Bowl, and an Iron Bowl for the ages, with the Kick Six to knock Alabama out of the national title game.

That 2013 Auburn offense was really something.
A HUNH smashmouth running game out of the shotgun, leading the nation in rushing. That running game really allowed the passing game to be efficient. Their QB was just an athlete taking the snap, but with all eyes on the dive play every play, it opened things up.

And the miracles (vs UGA, vs Bama)....everyone knows the kick-6, but the UGA one was just as insane. Not only do the 2 UGA safeties goof up the play, but the WR didn't track the ball until it was at eye level right in front of him and he caught it.

Their top 5 ball-carriers averaged 5.7, 6.2, 6.7, 9.8, and 10.4 yards per carry.
They started the year unranked and only broke into the top 25 in mid-October. I still don't know how they lost to FSU...maybe their luck ran out.

Playoff came a year late. 2013 MSU would have wiped the floor with 2015 MSU, and I don't think there was a great team in 2013. IMO 2014 OSU, Bama or Oregon would have comfortably won an NC in 2013.

2013 was lined up for teams like Auburn or MSU who were elite at one thing to get a crack at it.
