Comparing U2 a band with quite frankly marginal musical talent to Radiohead is laughable.

Ok Computer and Kid A are both masterpieces. Consider by many to be the best albums of their decade. Radiohead did things no band had ever done.

U2 is like the 80/90's version of Nickelback.

Saying Radiohead is for douchenozzles is fine I guess. You are the music version of the Miller Lite drinker that hates the guy with the amazing IPA that guy says the same thing.

Are you 12?  You seem like you're 12.

Comparing Radiohead a band with quite franly zero musical talent to U2 is laughable.

War, October, Boy, Unforgettable Fire, and Joshua Tree are all masterpieces.  Considered by many to be the best of all time.  U2 broke ground that Radiohead could never even dream of.

Radiohead is like the  90s/2000s version of REO Speedwagon.

You are the music version of the Franzia-in-a-box drinker that hates the guy importing Bordeaux directly from France, that guy says the same thing.

You have to be trolling that's the only thing I can think of. You can like U2 more then Radiohead and that's fine I guess. It's sad but fine. To think U2 has more talent is just wrong

Radiohead is definitely very, very douchey.  I didn't actively dislike their music, but I did get really worn out by their fanbois who just had to insist they were The Greatest EVAR!!!

msufan is simply proving my point.  It's so incredibly predictable.  I have no idea why Radiohead fanbois absolutely can't stand the thought of anyone thinking that their favorite band isn't just the absolute bestest, EVAR!!!  But there you have it.

Anyway, like I said, I don't have any specific problem with Radiohead.  I think they're douchey but so was Rick Springfield and I like his music okay.  But it's always Radiohead's intractable and sanctimonious fanbois that ruin the discussion.  Every.  Single.  Time.

As far as talent, I was certainly exaggerating.  I don't think they have zero talent.  I do absolutely think they have less talent than U2.

Does that make you wanna fight me?  It sure seems like it does.

I like Achtung Baby a lot more now, decades later, than I did when it came out.  I wanted more War/Boy/October or even Joshua Tree, and Achtung Baby was just such a departure.  But now, I really really enjoy it.

I never got into Radiohead, so U2 is an easy choice for me.

Radiohead wouldn't even be in my top 25 favorite bands(I do enjoy some of their stuff) but I can set aside my personal taste to know that they were a revolutionary band and one of the most influential bands for rock in the 21st century.

U2 are really good at making stadium rock. Lots of people like and enjoy it. It's easy to listen to didnt take a lot of chances. If you wanted to be in a cover band. U2 would be the perfect choice. Easy to play, easy to listen to, popular bad.

Why would I want to fight you?

neither of these bands are worth fighting about

I saw U2 in the stadium in Ames.  It was fine until Bono pushed his politics.  Ex-wife wanted to go and bought the tickets.

I've heard of Radiohead, but obviously their music didn't move me to remember them

Uhh... yeah... no.  Wrong again bubble boy.  The only explanation for the Doors' relatively limited success is the mystery of Jim Morrison's death.  Otherwise their music was terrible.

Or maybe it's because everyone was just really, REALLY stoned out of their minds for about a decade.  I guess that could explain it, too.  Stoned people make terrible decisions.
We are saying the same thing.  I hate the Doors, but at least there is a reason for them being so overrated, that Morrison died young.  Bono has survived to torture us for three decades, so I can even figure a reason for their popularity.

Radiohead is fine, I'm no huge fan.  I just have a hard time thinking of a band I find more overrated than U2.  Doors for sure, but again, if Morrison had lived, they wouldn't be what they are.

I saw U2 last yr on their Joshua Tree tour.  Beck opened so that was a hook I needed.  It was a couples thing so we had fun.  One noticeable sight, a near total lack of teens/20 somethings.
Bono had next to zero sanctimonious moments which was good.  That was 4th time I've seen Beck.
I sure hope Odelay would make an appearance here.

Many more teens and young adults at a recent Metallica show I went to and they haven't been 'cool' in a very long time.

Agree w the assessment on death of albums.  You get singles and EPs these days.  Money is made touring w rare exception.

I do like Radiohead but the fanbois are pretty insufferable.

I think you guys are going to have to come up with a lot of wonderful new lies or people just aren't going to want to go on listening. The Doors were incredible - many/most don't dwell on his exit - that's for DB Cooper.Their music was driving,intense,creative,course - excellent blend of a lot.But I'll let you two get back to New Kids on the Block and the Back Street Boys

To get back to the #4 vs. #5 matchup, where were all you guys on that thread who were sticking up for Blood on the Tracks?  I voted for Dylan, and he got only one other vote.  So some of you guys must have forgotten how you cast your votes.

I have no real strong feelings for Dylan.  I think he's an artist where you had to be there to have the love for him.   I have no trouble loving music before my time, I just can't get into Dylan.
