Can't figure out a better place to put this, but several of you guys know the infamous poster Skicat from back in the day.

He texted me the other day and let me know his father has entered hospice.  The cancer is winning and he is giving up the fight.

He was my high school history teacher and the head ball coach for my first 2 years, and Golf for all 4.

Lots of us getting to the age where we are the oldest generation alive.  So, naturally, grumpy.

Hate hearing that.

Damn it!

life is tough

never met the man, but wish I would have

heard a few stories

Ski texted me in the 6 o'clock hour Sunday morning, which is fine since I'm old, was up, and can't sleep in anyway.  Daddy Asch passed Saturday around 2:30.

Never easy, but at that stage it truly is a blessing.  Was when my Mom passed last August, for sure.

I'll forward you guys' condolences.

One of my closest friend's wife just got a BC diagnosis. An aggressive kind. They've got one kid who just finished kindergarten and another right about to start.

Fuck cancer.

BTW buying jeans when you're a giant is frustrating.

Years ago, I found a specific pair from Gap that fit me nicely at 38x34. Something has apparently changed in my body, and the 34" inseam is now too short. (I assume I got bigger/smaller in some areas from exercise and now they fit differently; I know I haven't gotten taller.) So I had bought a pair of 38x36 in the same cut, and love them. But I need to replace those 38x34 as they're too small.

So yesterday we went out to the mall (which is its own grumpy discussion, but at least we went to Yard House for lunch) to look for jeans. Well you know what you can't find, basically anywhere, to try on? 38x36. At Nordstrom they had *one* pair that was 38x34, but I didn't like the fit in several ways... And they were expensive, because it's designer shit from Nordstrom. And that brand doesn't even make a 38x36. Then checked out Gap and American Eagle, and they didn't have anything at 38" waist in longer than 32" inseam in-store. Only online.

So I thought... Screw it. I'll just get on gap.com and buy a few pairs of 38x36 that I know work...

...only to find out they don't make this damn size any more!

You can get 38" waist, but in nothing longer than 34" length. You can get 36" length, but in nothing bigger than 36" waist!

Googling suggests that there are only 3 mainstream brands that do 38x36. So I ordered 3 pairs from American Eagle and we'll just have to wait and see if they fit--if not, I have to go through the return hassle.

Ugh. I mean, it's frustrating to be such a big, sexy outlier that they think people can't be as magnificent as I am so they don't make clothes for us.
