If only you were this skeptical with religion...
Who says I am not?

not a super spiritual person.   But- I leave those who are alone because their beliefs are theirs.
You might want to try it sometime as opposed to your standard “ I am triggered by religion “ stance.

^^^ out of bounds
Why does that get a special pass?  That's the problem.  Don't turn a skeptical eye towards the magic man in the sky.
Got it.

I don't see the problem.  Nothing should be off-limits.  That's childish.

We have our first trillionaire.  He's not a boomer.

Don't know.  In a normal debate the person making the assertions is tasked with supplying evidence to support it.  Otherwise it's just vibes and bullshit.

I provided evidence.  The sample size is only one, but it encompasses the entire population of trilionaires on this planet.  That's a 100% sample.  You're welcome.

Sigh.  Here's your 5 second google evidence you could easily do yourself.  You're just a hair off.......

The average age of a billionaire worldwide is roughly 67 to 68 years old. While highly visible tech founders and young heirs often dominate headlines, the vast majority of the world's billionaires are aging entrepreneurs and investors who have spent decades building their fortunes. [1, 2, 3]

A closer look at the data reveals several distinct demographic trends:
  • Global & U.S. Averages: The overall median age for the world's billionaires is 67. In the United States—which houses the largest concentration of billionaires—the average age is slightly higher at 68.6 years. [1, 2]
  • Age Distribution: Less than 10% of the world's billionaires are under the age of 50. Nearly half fall into the 50 to 70 age bracket, while over 40% are older than 70. [1, 2]

Some Boomers and (more so) Gen X (especially the younger ones) are definitely the problem here. It's not a joke.

BUT

My two Millennials were not awarded participation trophies.

If the team they were on sucked, they sucked. That was that.

There's my sample size of two for ya.
I’m fascinated by participation trophies as a metaphor because they can fit a bunch of different vibes, some contradictory.

When applied to a young generation, they usually slag on kids in essence not being able to overcome an older generation’s parenting. And they also probably overstate the amount kids didn’t see through them (kids by a certain point are mostly aware of being bad at such things).

I remember a Louisville women’s basketball coach ripping his kids for participation trophy whatnot. But those kids likely actually won trophies, and yet that didn’t solve the issue, which probably speaks to the overstating of trophies and the challenges with perspective on all these things.

(I basically didn’t do youth sports. I showed no interest, and my parents correctly assessed the experience would’ve likely been a poor one. But I think it’s given me a different sort of perspective on the values of competition, participation and the meaning ascribed to them, one I can hopefully share with future kids down the line)

I don't think you're this stupid.
Someone younger than a boomer can take advantage of the financial structure they have created.  Fuck man, you're better than this.  Stop letting your mood on the matter make your brain lazy.  For real.

You're the one that mentioned trillionaires.  I provided the evidence of the only one in existence.

Had you limited your commentary to billionaires, I would not have responded at all.

Ad hominem attacks don't support your arguments by the way.  They weaken your position substantially.

It's not ad hominem, it's supportive, actually.  You're being snooty with the sample size thing.  Several of you are.  The ones who are statistically inept.  This whole damn site should be renamed anecdote51.com
I'll check if it's available.

John D. Rockefeller died in 1937 with a net worth of $1.5 Billion or so.

It would be somewhere in the ballpark of $35 Billion today, but if that were invested, he'd likely be a Trillionaire.

Born in 1839, he's a product of a generation that doesn't have a name. Dood had giant balls.
