Oh yeah tons of good ones that I danced to with cute college girls, or did other stuff to...

90s standouts for me:
Garth Brooks
Clint Black (I'll give him to the 90s I guess)
Doug Stone
Pam Tillis
Shania Twain
Marty Stuart
Alan Jackson
Travis Tritt
Suzy Bogguss
Faith Hill
John Anderson
Shenandoah
The Mavericks
Brooks & Dunn
Tim McGraw
Collin Raye
Marc Chestnut
John Michael Montgomery

Another at least dozen I'm forgetting I'm sure.

Reba McEntire and Vince Gill would like a word.

Billy Ray Cyrus would, too, but if I never hear his biggest hit again, it will be too soon (my GF at the time loved that frickin' song).

I like Vince Gill.  Reba was never my thing.  Nor the Judds.  Nor "The Chicks."

Fair. They sure sold a lot of records in the 90s, those gals. Nothing on Shania or Alanis (I know, not country), but still respectable showings.

Yup they were definitely popular, just not my cup o' tea.  And it has nothing to do with their politics, I'm very much on record as not giving a crap one way or the other how entertainers lean or speak politically.  I disliked them long before any of that happened.

A good friend of mine helped me gain some clarity once upon a time.  He doesn't like Rush, can't stand Geddy Lee's voice mostly, but also he just doesn't dig prog rock in general.  But he really liked the Dixie Chicks, and he once asked me why I didn't, and I responded, "They're my Rush."

Sometimes you just don't like something that a lot of other people do.  I don't like Michelob Ultra either, but it's the top selling beer in the country.

Also fair. I was including Reba and the Judds in "those gals" who sold a lot of records, but there is no difference in the sentiment, I suppose.

Most of the country I listened to was as a result of the girl I was dating at the time, which, unsurprisingly, tended to include "the gals." That was long over by the time the Chicks were on the scene, but SFIrish appreciates them and, to some degree, Shania, so they've hung around the playlists I hear.
