Herbie Husker seems to have a hard time finding that sweet spot between goofy cornball and male stripper.

There was a period, maybe post WWII, when lots of schools had mascot images that wore military-style sailor caps, even if it had nothing to do with your school's history.

Yeah, that might have included a sort of universal Tiger mascot with the sailor cap.  LSU, Auburn, Missouri (and possibly others) had identical logos, just different colors.
