good hire. I think. Okie State had a really good defense this year in a pass heavy conference that plays no defense.

https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2021/12/127742/ohio-state-hiring-oklahoma-state-s-jim-knowles-as-new-defensive-coordinator

Jim Knowles, who was a finalist for this year’s Broyles Award after leading an Oklahoma State defense that ranks third in the nation in yards allowed per game (278.4) and eighth in the Football Bowl Subdivision in points allowed per game (16.8) this season, is leaving the Cowboys to become the new leader of the Buckeyes’ defense.

Love it.would be great to see Coach Coombs take over DBs - that's where he cut his teeth and made inroads.DC just wasn't his calling

Dang, Marcus Freeman is just dunking on Ohio State.

Quote
I visited this university for the first time when I was about 16 or 17 years old and was recruited to play here. I had a choice to make, and in the end what it came down to was Ohio State or Notre Dame. And I chose Ohio State. I loved Tyrone Willingham. I thought he was a great coach, and to be honest, he reminded me a bit of my father.

Quote
Fast-forward to last year, and you might have heard that I was being considered for a couple of coaching jobs. During that time, me and my wife, Joanna, took a trip down to Louisiana and then up here to South Bend — and when we got back home, it was another tough decision. I can’t tell you exactly what it was that told us to come to Notre Dame, but there was something. We all know there’s something different about Notre Dame. We all know it’s something special. And I just thank God that I didn’t make the wrong decision twice.

OHIO STATE REPORTEDLY NO LONGER CONSIDERING FIVE-STAR TRANSFER CORNERBACK ELI RICKS

sounds like Bama isn't either. Leaves just Georgia and USC on his stated "top 4".

Damn. He's got to recruit against Ohio State for top tier midwest players and a few national ones as well. Maybe this was his way of negatively recruiting OSU publicly. If he had the stones to say that publicly- just imagine what he'll say in private to those kids. "I wish I would've went to Notre Dame instead of Ohio State, trust me I played there, they don't blah blah blah xyz".

After some bad news with DBs (Ricks, Watts, Brooks), this is great news.  Really need him back to solidify the secondary.

Matt Barnes heading to Memphis to be the DC there. Someone had to go with Knowles coming in, though the smoke suggests more guys are headed out

What they've paid Coombs thru the years(1.8 mil. in '21) think he'd stick around and help out with DB's after all he had a hand on that side of the ball. It's the one thing he does well

Bucks not bringing OL coach Studrawa back. OL have hardly been a huge problem under him, but the recruiting has been criticized and he was a Urban holdover.
