So I'm sitting on the back patio watching the Blue Jackets lose, which gets me wandering on the internet.  The Trail Blazers clinched a playoff birth today with a win over the Grizzlies, and I learned that CJ McCollum is actually from Ohio and was lightly recruited and ended up at Lehigh before heading to the NBA.  He was from the class of 2009, and the Bucks took no one that year. They did take five the year before, which is why I landed here typing this.

1. B.J. Mullens, 5 star Center, (No. 2 overall in the nation): Pledged to the Buckeyes.  The curse of the big time recruit.  Mullens played in a suburb of Columbus so was an easy ticket for the Bucks.  But he only played one rather uneventful year where he won the B1G Sixth Man Award, which is mostly a sign that he didn't start.  Then he headed to the NBA where he had a pretty uneventful career before hitting the international market, where he still plays.

2. William Buford, 5 star SG, (No. 13 overall): Pledged to the Buckeyes.  The opposite of Mullens, Buford played all four years for the Bucks.  While he played well and was the B1G freshman of the year his first year, he never really developed into a big time star.  The NBA passed on him, nad he played for a long time on the international circuit and was most recently in the TBT for the Buckeye team.

3. Delvon Roe, 5 star PF (15): Pledged to the Spartans.  An up and down sort of tale.  He battled knee injuries, though turned in an effective freshman season where he started for the Sparty team that played in the national championship game.  But the knee issues didn't go away, and after his junior year he called it quits.  But he did get his degree in acting, and has given that a go.  Most recently he was on a BET show in 2019 playing a former basketball player. Perhaps his range isn't the best, but he is finding work.

4. Yancy Gates, 4 star PF (22): Pledged to Cincinnati. Had a healthy career for the Bearcats, playing all four years, and is mostly known for being in big brawl and punching the next guy on the list.  He hit the international circuit, where he still plays.

5. Kenny Frease, 4 star C (40): Pledged to Xavier. See above.  Mostly known for getting punched by Yancy Gates during an ugly Crosstown Shootout brawl.  Otherwise he had a nice careeer and hit the international circuit after college.

Mullens was stuck behind one of my favorite Buckeyes, Dallas Lauderdale. 

Guy was built like a fridge and just hit short shots, rebounded and blocked shots. Just a super good 4th or 5th starter and excelled in the role.
