Northwestern (0-1, 2-2) at #10 Wisconsin (1-0, 4-0) Post Game
« on: September 25, 2017, 04:06:33 PM »
So, both teams are coming off of a bye in the schedule. No advantage there. I don't know what NU did for its bye, but I do know UW used theirs to get #1 reps for the #2 and #3 string, to develop depth.

I'm thinking that was a smart move on the coaching staff's part. Depth will be key moving forward, with 9 straight conference games between now and the end of the season.

On paper, UW should win this game. But games are not played on paper, and NU has been UW's biggest pain in the ass for the entire time King Barry has been in Madison.

On another note, as I expected would happen, UW's starting tailback is now true frosh Jonathan Taylor, according to the depth released today.

The kid is gonna be special.

MSU used theirs to go down as a team to Houston to volunteer in the Hurricane Harvey cleanup.

Good deeds, but didn't seem to help in the football department.

Were classes not in session that week? I don't know the MSU calendar, which is why I ask.

They went down Friday morning, came back Sunday night.

It was like 20ish guys I think, not the whole team.  I imagine the few that have Friday classes (which I doubt is many considering even with low class selection priority I didn't have Friday class after sophomore year) were left out, along with ones who wanted to use their bye week as a bye week.

I think most will expect a Wisconsin blowout, but Wisconsin's not really played anyone with a pulse yet.

northwestern's ugly loss at duke hangs over it's head, but Duke looks pretty darn good actually.

still, it's hard to imagine the badgers losing this one at home.

maybe the noon kickoff, 11 AM wiscy time has the badgers a bit sleepy?

I'll take the badgers 37-24

Right. It's an ass-chapper almost every time.
Even mediocre NU teams have a knack of knocking off stronger teams.  Wisconsin should lay the smackdown on the Cats, but it wouldn't shock me if it was a nail-biter.

Most have not paid attention to this series.
The teams are 4-4 in the last eight. Those UW teams averaged 10.25 wins. NW's 7.5. NW wins were by 6, 6, 2, 3.
I hate this matchup. You go in hoping to not get kicked in the shin. Damn nerds.

Cats will be comfy-cozy this weekend. Heh. Hopefully they won't need the X-Ray though. I don't like when that happens.

Camp Randall Stadium underwent a four-year renovation that concluded in time for the 2005 football season. The $109.5 million project included the construction of a new visiting team locker room, which is heated and cooled. The visiting team also has use of Wisconsin’s on-site X-ray facility on game days.
