Dude, no offense, but every single person you associate with in other cities, just absolutely sucks.  It's uncanny.  You get the worst hosts and worst advice of all time, every time.

If he couldn't find something delicious to eat in NOLA, he's just not trying.

I have no sympathy.

He had the exact same story for his visit to Austin.  I genuinely feel sorry for him, he either has the worst luck, or just knows the worst people.

I guess taste has something to do with it, although it's incredible how many people worldwide love Louisiana food, NOLA in particular.

I had about a six-month adjustment period when I moved to Austin.  It wasn't that the food was bad, but it was different, and I didn't care for it.  After a while I got used to it, my palate adjusted, and there were so many great places.  I still miss them.  They key was not the food being sub-par, it was my taste buds lacking an appreciation for what I was eating.

Sounds like you, too, were going to the wrong places.

i don't think excellent BBQ or sushi or Vietnamese or fine dining are any sort of an acquired taste, and Austin has all of that in abundance since the late 90s.  There's even been great Italy-Italian food available in Austin since then.  One weak spot for Austin is definitely American-Italian, but even then there are a couple of places in town that my New York/New Jersey Italian neighbors love.

Tex-Mex or Interior Mexican... maybe.  But the really good places just taste good, regardless of what's being served.  For example fajita tacos are ubiquitous around the country and everyone seems to like them, so getting the actual best versions of those should be immediately palatable.

I mentioned that my BIL just moved to San Antonio, and now my MIL and her husband have sold their house and just spent a little over a week in San Antonio, and bought the replacement.

They were absolutely raving about the food.

Granted, they've spent the last decade and a half or so in rural Oregon, so maybe options were limited there...

No accounting for people's tastes. There is an awesome Venezuelan place by my job, but people go there and order the burrito. Which, I mean, it's a burrito. It's fine. But you aren't getting the best the place has to offer.

I've never even been to Austin and even I know Franklin's is the place to go. Is it as good as they say? Heard wait times can be hours long.

Franklin is great.  It's the best commercial brisket I've ever had.  You can also skip the line by preordering, and picking up from the to-go window, but then of course you need a plan for a nearby place to eat it, because it's always best fresh-sliced.

But there are several other places that are almost as good at brisket, and even better at other meats, where the wait is minimal.

so turns out that comment Brady made on LeBron's HBO show about "you're really sticking with that m**therf**ker" was very likely about Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Ross wanted Brady badly, and had a meeting set up on his yacht to try and seal the deal. Apparently Brian Flores didn't want Brady however.

It does make some sense that Brady might want to play for the Dolphins - as I do know that Brady & Gisele planned on moving to Miami permanently - as right around that time they bought a 5,700 sq ft house in Indian Creek for $17.5 million- which is a super-exclusive island in Miami Beach - and they are in the process now of tearing down the existing house and building a behemoth. He probably also wouldn't mind sticking it to Belichik twice a year and taking the division over.

Harbaugh will fail in the NFL imo. It's moved EVEN MORE towards a passing league in the nearly 10 years since he's been there - and he just has NO f***king clue how to do that.

Dude just has no f***king clue when it comes to the pass game - and that's not going to fly in todays NFL.

Good news @MDot21, at least for Harbaugh and maybe the Vikings too? I would try to make sense of why Harbaugh would bother interviewing in Minnesota at all only to immediately announce his return to Ann Arbor if this week’s theme wasn’t so clearly Sham NFL Interviews.

(Sounds like the Vikings will turn their attention to hiring the Rams OC, 36 year old Kevin O'Connell.)
