don't like the outcome of OT???

you've got 60 minutes to prove you have the better team

tough titty
Read a little bit closer next time.

Couldn’t care less about the outcome. Neither team proved it was better after 60 minutes. With these overtime rules only one team gets a chance.

Why not just have a coin toss to see who the winner is.

if you couldn't care less, why bring it up

the team on the short side of the outcome knew well before hand the unfair rules of overtime

they did toss a coin to award one team the opportunity to have the ball first

if you're not up for the 50/50 shot of a coin toss, play to win in regulation

other than that, go to the rules committee in the off-season

I believe I saw that NFL teams who win the counties in OT actually win at a lower clip than college teams who win the OT coin toss, although both are fairly close to 50/50.

It's something like 53% of the time in the NFL and like 56% in college (when both teams touch the ball)

How much do you drink during these games?😂
so- you are saying “the unfair rules of overtime”?

Because I never said that.

The rules are fair because they apply equally.

all I did was ask the question: is it the best process in postseason NFL games to allow one team to have a possession and not the other team?

For years we have generally agreed on this forum that the rules favor the offense, so in a game where it appears neither defense can stop the other team, is the process they are using the best way to Determine a winner?

just kind of wondering out loud. I just have to remember when I post something there’s a number of people who like to drink and post.

I drink plenty during games

I don't need a game to drink & post

is the process they are using the best way to Determine a winner?

usually, the powers that be just keep changing the process to try to appease folks that came out on the wrong end of the stick

no, it's probably not the best way, but nothing is perfect

it could be better, not going to argue that

heck, I guess we agree :86:

Agreed perhaps they should clip the way the OT is done during the season. It goes back/forth like ping pong, both these squads are deserving. After 4 months of pounding the snot out of each other, they deserve better than a coin flip, maybe an 8-9-10 minute Qtr?

or they could do it like golf and have them suit up the following day and play another 60 minutes

Well they use to play an extra QTR back in the day.But in recent years during the season the LEAGUE implements this short, abridged version that has turned into a bastardized format of the Arena League. It should not hold court in the POs,IMHO

I'd be for the NCAA version

alternating possessions starting at the 50

In hindsight, I don't think that a dribble kick would have run off enough time to keep Mahomes and the Chiefs out of FG range. In addition to the 13 seconds, he also had all three timeouts.

Well I think we do agree fearless.

and I will take responsibility to because although I’m Not much of a drinker and didn’t have any yesterday at all, the prior three days was my “friends visiting from Michigan for a golf weekend“. There may have been three or four bottles of bourbon and some lingering effects involved.🥴

When?

They played 15 minutes, but it was total sudden death, so that KC could have just won it with a FG.  At least they had to score a TD now

Yes that's the earliest OT rules I can remember for the NFL, but Mr. N is considerably older than both you and me.  Perhaps he's talking about the leather helmet days... ;)
