TAMPA, Fla. -- Former NFL player Josh Bellamy has been sentenced to three years and one month in federal prison for fraudulently obtaining over $1.2 million in COVID-19 relief funds.

Bellamy, 32, of St. Petersburg, Florida, was sentenced Friday in Tampa federal court, according to court records. He pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Besides serving prison time, Bellamy must also pay restitution.

Bellamy most recently played for the New York Jets, who released him from the reserve/physically unable to play list in September 2020, just days before his arrest. The wide receiver had been placed on the list in May of that year, ending his season before it began. He signed a two-year deal worth $5 million with New York in 2019 and played in seven games before injuring a shoulder and being placed on the season-ending injured reserve list.

According to court records, Bellamy obtained a Paycheck Protection Program loan of $1.2 million for his company, Drip Entertainment LLC, using falsified documents and false information. Bellamy admitted to using the loan proceeds on personal items, such as jewelry and a stay at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Bellamy also sought loans on behalf of his family members and close associates.

More bullshit FACT
nope. certain opinions might as well be fact.

anybody with a brain or set of eye balls can look at Barry Sanders and go...THAT'S NOT NORMAL. WHO THE F CAN DO THAT. WTF AM I SEEING. Ditto with Aaron Donald. Somethings, are just facts. Like LT being the best LB and defensive player ever as well.

You will never see a RB capable of doing the things Barry Sanders did, ever again. You will never see a LB or defensive player capable of doing the things LT did, ever again. You will never see a DT capable of doing the things Aaron Donald is doing right now ever again. These are 1 of 1's. Glitches in the matrix.

Barry Sanders was fun to watch.  I always got a big kick out of seeing him scramble around for 80 yards (4 or 5 of them actually going forward) while Emmitt Smith was setting TD records and winning Superbowls.

Emmitt had an O-line and a passing game to keep defenses honest

if he had been in Detroit he would have retired a decade earlier with no trophies, and no records, and no recognition

Emmitt was a great player- but if we're being honest- this a stupid comparison. Emmitt Smith played for a Hall of Fame coach. Barry Sanders played bulk of his career for Wayne Fontes. Emmitt Smith ran behind arguably the greatest OL in NFL history. Barry Sanders had a few years with an above average OL- but for probably north of 60-70% of his career he played behind terrible OL's. Emmitt Smith played with Troy Aikman. Who was a stud #1 overall NFL draft pick and is in the NFL Hall of Fame on the 1st ballot. Barry Sanders played with Rodney Peete, Andre Ware, Eric Hipple, Bob Gagliano, Dave Krieg, Erik Kramer, Frank Reich, Don Majkowski, and Charlie Batch. Emmitt Smith played with Michael Irvin, an NFL Hall of Fame WR and was the 2nd best WR in the 90s behind only...Jerry Rice. You know, the greatest WR to ever play the game of football. Barry Sanders played with Herman Moore. Who was actually a very good WR- but still not on the same level as Michael Irvin.

Do we need to compare the defenses? Because Dallas had the #1 defense in the league several years that Emmitt was there. Barry Sanders' Lions teams literally only had a top 10 defense one time in his entire 10 year career there. And immediately after that year the dumbass ownership started letting all those top players on that defense like Chris Spielman go.

Dallas would've won Super Bowls with Barry Sanders and the guy probably would've ran for 3,000 to 5,000 more yards for his career running behind that OL. He'd have had a few 2,000 yard seasons and been the only guy to ever have multiple 2k seasons.

Bullcrap,we already had this discussion,Great back, great attitude also, lot to like but in your stroll thru the land of make believe you do get creative.Sanders led the league in rushing 4 times, quick and agile for sure.Brown did it 8 of his 9 seasons.Barry got a ton of yards playing on artificial turf where he could stop on a dime.He also lost more yards from scrimmage than anyone else.Payton,Brown,Tomlinson,Dickerson and Campbell were right there.Sayers is even with his shortened career.I saw Campbell in person 4x at old Cleveland Stadium he moved piles and punished people - the only guy I ever saw send Jack Tatem in the other direction. If he made the corner some one was going to pay.Brown played in 12 games for 4 yrs and 14 games for 5.Never missed a game in 9 seasons unanimous all-NFL 8 times. The only back in NFL history to average over 5 YPC and 100 YPG for a career retiring at age 30.And Dallas wouldn't have one another SB unless Jimmy stayed, drugs, lack of discipline,  and Jerry made sure of that

So it's just Mighty Ducks but instead of a fictional DUI it's a well known true life scheme to pay defensive player to injure opposing players?

I think somebody should do a comedy series where a soccer manager from an overseas team, comes to the US to coach an NFL franchise.  Chaos and hilarity ensue.

You can have chaos or hilarity, but the combination of the two might send people into seizures.

best RB that's ever come out of Wisconsin. Honestly was a little shocked he didn't go 1st round after he ripped off 4.3's in the combine. With his size and college production with that verified 40 time- thought for sure he'd go 1st round.

Chiefs have to be kicking themselves in the ass for taking the kid from LSU over Taylor with the last pick of the 1st round.
