Where will the Wildcats play while Ryan is being demolished and the new stadium built?
I would guess Soldier Field, no?

How long will it take? The local D1 is still putting the final touches on a press box that has been under construction since at least 2020, and probably longer.

seems like a massive waste of nearly $1 billion dollars.

I am guessing there are a lot fans that attend NW games would prefer Soldier field.  I know I would prefer Soldier Field when NW hosts Iowa.

NW should just forget the new stadium and move into Soldier field when the Bears move to Arlington Hts.  Or better yet, NW should just move its games to Arlington Hts.

I agree with the two of you. I think it would make more sense for Northwestern to save the Billion Dollars and just play wherever the Bears are playing.

Alternatively it would be even better if they could get some kind of deal to effectively build the Bears a stadium on the Ryan Field site and rent it to the Bears while reserving it for themselves for their games as well. The you'd get double duty out of the boxes and high-dollar luxury suites.

They want to build in an area where they also control the surrounding parking, and bar/restaurant areas.

That's why the McCaskeys bought Arlington Park Racetrack. Keep all the game day revenue in house instead of the Chicago Park Board keeping much of it.

Early renderings of the New Brickhouse was a joint stadium with the Vikings, with the same terms as the Dome. The multiuse crowd were hawking the multiuse benefits loudly, even after getting shot down cold at both Winter Park and Morrill Hall.

Maybe, at least it's private monies, or so they claim.

I'd guess the "donors of substance" from Northwestern can afford it

3 or 4 decide to chip in, it's done

That's an expensive downgrade, capacity-wise.  Spend a ton of $$$ to make less $$$ each game....

Just make sure that Brett Favre and the state of Mississipppi welfare services are not involved in the fundraising

I'm guessing it's been a long time or maybe never that the existing stadium has been filled to standing room only
and obviously trending downward
They aren't limiting the gate take by downsizing
