Honestly thought this was our bye week, so this is disappointing.
Last year, it was getting whipped at home by UCLA that marked the beginning of the end of Smith. This year, MSU is showing some fight, but when they needed a play late they couldn't make it. UCLA is not a hostile environment, but it's still a cross country trip against a much better team.
I wanted to keep Rossi, and he's done nothing to make me change my mind. Playing essentially all reserves in the back seven, the defense is holding up as well as could be hoped, for what wasn't a super strong squad to begin with.
The offense, well, the pass catchers are not good except for TE Jaden Savoury. And Alessio has been awful. Nick Sheridan is doing a good job, particularly with his lack of skill position players, and the QB is failing him. Fitzgerald did not hold back in his press conference, saying that 4 TDs were left on the table by the QB, 2 times with bad throws, 2 times with non throws. He looks skittish back there. The OL has been not great, but better than the sack numbers would suggest.
Until the QB proves he is a P4 player, I just don't have faith in the defense, down 6 starters can do enough to overcome that. This one might get ugly.
